As an example, a couple of years ago I bought an 1:8 scale racing engine from the US for a model car for around $400 (£800 in Cyprus!) that weighed around 200grams and paid about £26.00 to the post office. So, it's only worth buying lightweight and expensive things from the US.

You will have to pay 15% VAT. I am not sure if there is import tax on Hi-Fi System, probably not, you can call the post office services and ask them. Also if your order including the shipping is over 1000 Euro you will need an "ektelonistis" (customs officer?) to prepare some papers and you will have to pay him.

Hello,

I get various stock shipped from usa and europe not that it matters as import tax is same regardless of origin.

The factors taken into consideration are cost of item and cost of delivery and size or number of packages as they carry a tax

I Usually email customs with my costs so they can tell me import cost, that way i know if it is worth ordering.

If you email me direct I can give you contact details as to who you can speak too
