i wonder, could you please pass on that contact to me, i often wonder if it would be worth buying items over the net from the USA but the frustraition of trying to find the import duties has driven me wild in the past.

That is not correct. You always have to pay 15% VAT, but import tax you have to pay only for specific products if you order from outside the EU. If you order from EU countries there is only VAT and no import tax. If you are ordering from outside the EU and you want to know if the product you import will have import tax and how much it will be you can call the Post Office and ask http://www.mcw.gov.cy/mcw/dps/dps.nsf/c ... endocument
