A TC wins a metal in the XI Games of SSE in Andorra.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I am wondering however, if he had won the gold metal, what national anthem would they have played during the metal award?

The Greek one, as it was the case with the GCs who won gold metals?

Any ideas?

Mr Kifeas

If this gentleman had won his race, as a representative of RoC, then I feel confident that he would have expected the RoC National Anthem to be played.

...which is the Anthem of Greece!

...and the Anthem of Cyprus since the establishment of CyR

Ms RAFAELLA

I wasn't here at that time and so I would like to ask a question

Why was the National Anthem of Greece chosen for the newly formed CyR?

Probably, many GC's voted "no" because of the fact that their favourite national anthem would not be used any more. The young lady who won a gold medal at the paralympics said "I thank the President for his "no" decision that led to the specific anthem to be played at the victory ceremony".

By the way, I believe the national anthem of Greece was not chosen to be the anthem for Cyprus. It was used after the turkish cypriot revolt, as we call it, in 1963.

Well, I guess as a greek island they adopted the Greek Anthem. Now, you've mentioned it though, I will try to find out and give you the answer you want.
Tcs had no objection to this anthem, if they had why they didn't say so then?
Also the CyR flag was designed by a Tc and the Gcs had no objection to that.

Greek island? In your fairy dream!

We didn't object? Again in your fairy dream!

Don't you know Turks use Turkish anthem and Greeks use Greek anthem in RoC? Does RoC flag include symbols of Turkish nation? NO! That's why G.Cs didnt object it. If it was red. God knows...

The one proposed under the AP was a dirge, so I just hope they launch a new competition to decide upon one. Why don't we start the running here folks? Are there any common Cypriot folk songs ...

How about "ta rialia rialia stin pounga"? That would be most representative of Cypriots!

(apologies to TC friends if this was incomprensible - it's a GC song that talks about having lots of money)
