poor girl :(

Postby paliometoxo » Sun Feb 15, 2009 11:49 am

A FOUR-year-old girl from Paphos lost three fingers of her right hand when they got caught in a pastry-making machine on Friday evening.

Maria Papaioannou, from the Paphos district got her hand caught in a kouba-making machine which her mother was using at the time, around 8pm on Friday.

The father rushed the girl to the emergency ward of Paphos general hospital. Due to her serious condition, the little girl was then taken to the Hippocrateon hospital in Nicosia for surgery.

Spokesman for the Paphos police, Nicos Tsapis, said the girl was taken to hospital with her hands still on the machine, which could only be removed with the help of the Fire Service.

The Stroumbiou Police Station is investigating the causes of the accident in cooperation with the Labour Office.

Oh dear :( ... poor little thing. Human curiosity  ... you can't take your eyes off smart kids for a second.

I hope they can offer some kind of reconstructive surgery.

... and obviously the manufacturers should carry out alterations to those machines to make them safer.

Good reminder that most accidents happen in the home, palio ....

I take it the poor little darling is from Stroumbi then , must find out about her .
Just spoke to my brother in Limassol , he informs me that the little girl is from the village of Kalepia but Stroumbi is the main police station in the area so is investigating this tragic accident. My heart goes out to this little child and her family.

I do hope that she recovers quickly. It is awful for the parents as well when accidents happen in the home.

I have asked my brother to find out a little more and keep me informed. This tragedy need not have happened but you have to be so careful with toddlers . Let us hope she makes a good recovery .

First of all i feel very sad to hear such an incident occured. I'm sure her family didn't desire such an incident to occure but police has to investigate the incident to find out if there is a negligence. If there is a severe negligence or culpable negligence; police is reqired to carry out what the relevant laws order.

The police and social services should check all such cases out. When my friend's daughter was 3 - 4 years old, she ended up with a dislocated elbow joint playing with her older brother and the parents had endless questions to answer when they took her to hospital. They were pretty traumatized by the suspicion, so parents should just see it as routine, and not worry (about anything other than their child).

Blasphemous Rumours lyrics

Girl of 16
Whole life ahead of her
Slashed her wrists
Bored with life
Didn't succed
Thank the lord
For small mercies

Fighting back the tears
Mother reads the note again
16 candles burn in her mind
She takes the blame
It's always the same
She goes down on her knees and prays

I don't want to start
Any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's
Got a sick sense of humour
And when I die
I expect to find
Him laughing

Girl of 18
Fell in love with everything
Found new life
In Jesus Christ
Hit by a car
Ended up
On a life support machine

Summer's day
As she passed away
Birds were singing
In the summer sky
Then came the rain
And once again
A tear fell
From her mother's eye
