A FOUR-year-old girl from Paphos lost three fingers of her right hand when they got caught in a pastry-making machine on Friday evening.
Maria Papaioannou, from the Paphos district got her hand caught in a kouba-making machine which her mother was using at the time, around 8pm on Friday.
The father rushed the girl to the emergency ward of Paphos general hospital. Due to her serious condition, the little girl was then taken to the Hippocrateon hospital in Nicosia for surgery.
Spokesman for the Paphos police, Nicos Tsapis, said the girl was taken to hospital with her hands still on the machine, which could only be removed with the help of the Fire Service.
The Stroumbiou Police Station is investigating the causes of the accident in cooperation with the Labour Office.
