The Fatwa on Free Speech ....

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I was quite upset that the Geert Wilders thread was locked, especially as we did not do the subject justice.

I am sick and tired of hearing about all this pussy-footing around the Islamic religion because Christians are too darn nice.

No "ideology" be it religion or political correctness is worthy of freedom of speech censorship, let alone fatwas ...

Political correctness has taken over the western world, and I am sick and tired when people get so defensive the minute someone should criticize Islam.

Below is an example of the kind of rubbish we are forced to tolerate from Islamic Religious Fanatics in our own country:

Islamic cleric Abu Hamza says Australians are boozers hooked on gambling and prostitution

OUTSPOKEN Islamic cleric Abu Hamza has branded Australians as boozers who are hooked on gambling and prostitution.

In another sermon broadcast over the internet, the Melbourne cleric urged followers to spread the word of Islam to save Australians, the Herald Sun reports.

"They think happiness can be achieved by being intoxicated, by going to the casino and blowing your money away, by going from one prostitute to the other," he said.

"They don't know what life is all about, that's why they are on the booze, why they are binge drinking ... why unfortunately suicide has skyrocketed, murder, anxiety and depression."

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd yesterday demanded the cleric apologise after the another web sermon telling Muslim men they could hit their wives and demand sex.

An overwhelming majority of news.com.au readers criticised the cleric.

"These remarks have no place in modern Australia at all," Mr Rudd said.

"I would call upon this Islamic cleric to publicly apologise and repudiate his remarks. Under no circumstances is sexual violence permissible or acceptable in Australia ... nor are they acceptable, in my view, to mainstream Muslim teaching.

"So I say Australia will not tolerate these sorts of remarks. They don't belong in modern Australia and he should stand up, repudiate them and apologise."

But Mr Hamza, also known as Samir Mohtadi and who has previously spoken out strongly against terrorism, would not offer further comment on his views yesterday.

Mr Hamza, born in Lebanon, moved to Australia as a youth with his parents.

He has delivered contradictory lectures, at times telling his followers they should be grateful to live in Australia because it had a fair system of justice, welfare safety nets and the rights for individuals to express their views.

His comments on the treatment of women have been condemned by the Islamic Women's Welfare Council of Victoria and Muslim community leaders, including Yasser Soliman.

"To claim this is Islamic, or that the Koran forces wives to do things such as (these) lectures suggest, is quite insulting to most of the Muslim world," Mr Soliman said.

And before someone labels me a racist against Islam, I just wish to inform the thought police that I hold similar views about Christian Fundamentalists, although they are clearly not as bad.

I also support the notion that all religions are merely a means of controlling and taking advantage of their flock, as mentioned by the previous member.

Religion is also a major obstacle to liberalism, science and the human spirit of exploring our universe, environment and seek the truth!

Well I am not religious, so hence not nice ..... I object to all religions because they stifle reason.

Some 20 years after the Fatwa was instructed against Salman Rushdie ... an otherwise innocuous semi-literate author ... we are still objecting to anyone denouncing Islam  as anything but the stuff of troglodytes!

No "ideology" be it religion or political correctness is worthy of freedom of speech censorship, let alone fatwas ...

So wake up everybody. Give religion the heave ho ....

Resurrected Islamic Nationalist countries like Turkey belong in the stone age!
Let Salman Rushdie go free .....

Real Christians don't pussy foot around the Muslims, your thinking of false Christians like here in England. Have you forgot the Greek Fire, when the Muhamadians first came I bet they didn't. It was Christians that showed the Greek fire to the Muhamadians. 8)

When the Turk first came as the "Hun", it was blood thirsty. Then it came again as the "Mongol", still just as blood thirsty. Then the third time it came as the "Turk", even more blood thirsty and more resolute to enslave Europe taking the Muhamadians religion to the extreme. So religion has nothing to do with it if your talking about Turks since they were always blood thirsty. It's more to do with race than anything else.

I'am a Othodox Christian and if it wasn't for the Greek Othodox Church I would probably have ended up being a Turk so thanks goes to the priests that kept the Helenic conscious/spirit alive so please remember that.

I don't doubt religions had their place in Mankind's History. The Greek Orthodox, perhaps, more poignant than most as a provider of written records and preserver of its followers' early emergence towards civilisation - The protectors from the barbarians.

More than most, Orthodoxy allowed the development of Free Speech ... whilst Islam has sought to end it.

It's a great shame the West now lives in (patronising) fear of the backlash from Islam, when once we met it head on!
