I was talking to a Turkish Cypriot university student yesterday. He said that, in his opinion, reunification was impossible because "Greek Cypriots are brought up from an early age to hate us."

To read some of the threads that one sees on this forum, one cannot help but wonder if he is right.

Here is one good example. The event reported in this article could have involved any nationality under the sun. Instead some people chose to focus on the nationality of those involved and start spouting out the usual "Turks this, Turks that, Turks the other" nonsense. Get some therapy!

... we really don't need very much money to get rid of them all.

The predilections of political correctness have probably imposed too many restrictions on humour. However, to my mind, genocide is never is a suitable topic for a joke.

This applies in particular in such a politically sensitive place as Cyprus. One third of this island suffered brutal ethnic cleansing in 1974. Turkish state propaganda justifies this action by describing it as a "peace operation" aimed at preventing the genocide of the Turkish Cypriot population. The above joke only serves to reinforce this propaganda.

Under the circumstances, I can only surmise that a person who can make the comment in the above quote is either

1) not joking, and genuinely dreams of the day when extermination camps are set up,
2) stupid or naive, or
3) consciously furthering the aims of official Turkish state propaganda.

And my general conclusion from your posts Tim, is that you are humourless and unable to function in context! You are also passive aggressive, seeking to stir up trouble by vindictive comments on material singled out for your "mindful" treatment.

What are you doing on a forum such as this, which mixes Cyprus problem with General Chat, and Humour and Jokes etc if you are completely unable to distinguish the many nuances and angles by which forumers confront the many issues pertaining to the Human condition, from as many facets, for humour or debate, as possible?

I advocate Genocide and concentration camps ? ... what a completely subnormal contributor you have proven to be. If you want a discussion on the points in posts, stop being so obvious in your desire to discredit the forumer, above all else, because of your personal shortcomings, with blatant attempts to unsettle others by inciting personal attacks....
