Does anyone know anything about this?

He says the Mediterranean island of Cyprus has become a centre for what he calls an "absolutely horrifying" practice where young Russian women are flown in and given hormones to stimulate ovulation. Their eggs are then harvested and sold to other women who want donor eggs for IVF procedures.

I saw a programme on TV just last week showing that women are paid in the US for their eggs. Is the article suggesting that the girls are willingly doing this for money or being forced/duped in some way, because it doesn't make that clear? WHO the eggs are then sold to of course, opens up another can of worms. If the girls are willingly selling their eggs and if the eggs are then being used to provide childless people with a much wanted baby, then I don't see anything wrong with it - within controlled limits of course.
Why Cyprus is being singled out, I don't know! What I do know is, that had I not been able to have children of my own, I think I would have had any treatment going to help me get a baby.

I agree with tess ... it is an expanding field around the world for which, so long as it happens in a safe and controlled manner, there are many women who would willingly donate eggs to help their Sisters ... (and pass on their genes  ).

Men have been donating their sperm for donkey's years .... some paid .... but the degree of "discomfort" doesn't necessitate financial inducements in men.

Men have been donating their sperm for donkeys?

Surely there is a law against that!

You'll be talking about Muffin the Mule next!
