What you should teach your children is how the greedy TC collaborated with the British and the Turks in the 1950s in order to deny to the Cypriot people their freedom and self-determination, and have unfair gains on the expense of every other Cypriot.

Do your children know about this Halil:

I have shown time and time again in this forum that all conflicts and wars between Cypriots and Turks in Cyprus were in fact started by the Turks, in their attempt to deny to the Cypriot people their self-determination and keep Cyprus under their control.

The Cypriot people fought and will continue to fight for democracy, freedom and self-determination.

If the Turks had allowed the Cypriot people to democratically choose what to do with their own island, then there would be no conflicts, no wars and no suffering for anybody.

Please give it a rest. Accept your own responsibility.
They say that an alcoholic cannot be cured until they accept the error of there ways. When will you accept yours?
If you consider the Cyprus history taught in schools, the GC side is in the dark ages mate.

 The alcoholic in this case is you. I provide to you the evidence for the fact that you are the ones who started the inter-communal conflict seeking to deny to the Cypriot people their self-determination and have gains on the expense of every other Cypriot, and still you try to deny your responsibility despite the evidence.

We take responsibility for what we are responsible for. Yes, in the conflicts that you started, we retaliated. If you want me to take responsibility for the retaliation, then no problem. But are you going to accept the responsibility for starting the inter-communal conflict, or you will keep denying this fact?

You have proven jack shit...all you have done is taken a moment out of time and peddled it as the begining of all the troubles, your longing to sign our death warrant was the start of our troubles and why you are in the mess you are in today. Time to take reponsibility for your actions and not making excuses which you have mastered down to a tee, you whole arguements are everyone else is to blame except the innocent GCs.

Of course there were problems before as well VP. The Cypriot people being oppressed and enslaved under British and Turks was a huge problem. Don't you agree?

What I start with is from the beginning of the inter-communal conflict. The Cypriot people, after being oppressed by Turks and British for centuries wanted one and only thing: freedom and self-determination.

Nothing more. We fought against the colonialists for our freedom and you collaborated with the Colonialists and you attacked us. That is a fact. That is how the inter-communal conflict started. So time for you to take responsibility for starting it.

Of course we collaberated so that you would not give Cyprus to Greece and therefore sign our death warrant. We would do the same today if we felt strongly enough about something you were trying to enforce upon us, this is a great example of allowing you free range you can take decision on our behalf that would effect us more negatively than the GCs, safeguards and even more safeguards are paramount to any new solution to make sure you do not abuse your rights to place our community in danger and poverty, acting inline with every word you have placed your signature to.

You will never get it Piratis despite being a self confessed democrat. We have been telling pupils a one sided account. Democrasy calls for a spherical and balanced account. Democracy is not scared of the truth, only self proclaimed democrats.

DT, once again aligns himself with the darkest forces of reaction. Anyway, the part I quoted in the first post bore the brunt of the attack by Koulias, Varnava and the Archbishop.

Cypriot have the right to their self-determination, and this right means uniting with whomever they want, if they want, when they want. Like we united with EU because we democratically choose so.

So if you had not agreed for Cyprus to join the European Union would that mean that you had the right to attack us and start a conflict to stop us from "gifting" Cyprus to EU? In fact I still remember how Turkey was threatening us with another invasion if we dared to join the EU!! Fortunately this time they could not use the TC minority in order to create an excuse to invade us, just because we democratically choose to unite with EU!

Uniting with Greece would be no harm at all to you. Rhodes island which also has a Turkish minority united with Greece in 1947 and nothing happened to the Turkish minority there.

How could it be fine if Cyprus was under the British or Ottoman empires and Cypriots the subjects of these empires against their will, but not fine if Cypriots were equal citizens in a state they democratically choose to be part of?

So are you admitting that you in fact attacked us and started the inter-communal conflict in order to stop Cyprus from achieving its self-determination and freedom from foreign empires?

Bananiot, we are here and we can discuss everything openly. You are the one who throws half-truths and then hides.

The Turks declared a war against us in the 50s in order to stop Cyprus from achieving its freedom and self-determination. We fought back.

The students should know the whole truth, and not only parts of it. You can't say to the students that TCs were in enclaves, without telling them that the reason they were in enclaves was because they choose to fight against the Cypriot people and deny to the Cypriot people their self-determination. The whole truth should be said.

Go to the resulution of 1960

The most patriotic of all Greek cypriot newspaper "Simerini" referred to the questionnaire pointing out that the questions were begging an answer, in order to absolve the Turksih Cypriots of any responsibility.

Social fascist EDEK party led a scourging attack on the Minister of Education, Dr Andreas Demetriou. It is unprecedented Omirou (President of EDEK) said that we should consider that the Turkish Cypriots were forced to live in enclaves. Who forced them to do so, he asked, only to answer his question in the same breath. It is insinuated, he carried on, that the government of Makarios was responsible, the legal government of RoC. Is it possible, he asked, to distort history in such a manner?

Unfortunately Nikos Anastasiades, the moderate leader of DISI, also considered the questionnaire to be unacceptable. He was sure that the Turkish Cypriots led themselves into the enclaves. Pity, because Anastasiades recently did not shy from apportioning blame on all leaders of the 60's era.

It started in 1960
The resolution stated
A CYPRIOT WITH MUSLIM FAITH
A CYPRIOT WITH CHRISTIAN FAITH
Has the right to self determination
In other words
You have both the right to rule on the same soil
Makarios did not want to sign this

So how do you explain this statement made by U.Thant, the Secretary-General of the UN in 1965, were he clearly highlights a Turkish Cypriot self-isolation policy?

”106.The Turkish Cypriot leaders have adhered to
rigid stand against any measures which might involve having
members of the two communities live and work together, or which
might place Turkish Cypriots in situations where they would have
to acknowledge the authority of Government agents. Indeed, since
the Turkish Cypriot leadership is committed to physical and
geographical separation of the communities as a political goal,
it is not likely to encourage activities by Turkish Cypriots
which may be interpreted as demonstrating the merits of an
alternative policy. The result has been a seemingly deliberate
policy of self-segregation by the Turkish Cypriots.”

NB: Extract from UN document S/6426.

Is the education minister, Andreas Demetriou, aware of the then UN Secretary-General’s assessment of the situation or does he get his MISINFORMATION from fools like you Bananiot?
