50 meg is the speed to their network not to the Internet. Your be lucky to max out a 10 meg connection, most servers can't handle it unless your downloading from microsoft.

Who were you downloading from?

mainly from mirc and itunes and microsoft website and a few sites i found with google, though they had traffic shapping when you download more then 3GB during certain times they drop you down to a 5mbit for 5 hours which sucks, but the 50mbit doesent have that
