Christofias Castrating Turkey into a Capon ....

Postby Oracle » Sat Feb 07, 2009 1:11 am

In his most Presidential form yet ... showing Erdogan et al., clearly, how to do it ....

~
Greek Cypriot President Demitris Christofias says Turkey has no chance of joining the European Union as long as its troops occupy the northern third of the island. Mr. Christofias also says if UN-brokered peace talks between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities fail, there is no alternative plan for reuniting the country.

In an interview this week, Mr. Christofias sent a clear message to Ankara that Turkey will not be able to join the European Union unless it ends its occupation of the northern sector of Cyprus.
"No, it is not possible for Turkey to be accepted as a member of the union (EU), continuing its occupation of Cyprus. It is very clear and it's clear for the members of the European Union," he said.

What this means is that if talks fail, then its partition. Lets hope they do not fail.

That's not what it means at all!

Partition would be an alternative, and as Christofias said there is no alternative ... that means no partition!

The status quo would remain, with non-recognition of the occupied lands and without EU membership for Turkey. Clearly that is not what Turkey wants as it is still aiming for EU membership. It is no longer aiming for its bluff threat of recognition of "trnc" because that was never a realistic ambition.

The hope and desire by some ex-"TC"s for recognition, has never been a serious option. The ex-"TC"s are the only ones stupid enough to think it was ever going to happen. Partition is simply not an alternative!.

Do you really think Turkey would renege on a decades old ambition of joining the EU, whilst it is only a whisper away? Would it give all that up, just for a few "TCs" and the happiness of some Settlers?

NICOSIA, Feb 5 (Reuters) -

Cypriot President Demetris Christofias said on Thursday that Turkey would not be able to join the European Union as long as it kept troops stationed in northern Cyprus.

"It's not possible for Turkey to be accepted as a member of the union while continuing the occupation of Cyprus," he told reporters. (Reporting by Michele Kambas; editing by Elizabeth Piper)

Boulio, if all the Turkish troops have been withdrown; except 650 Turdyk; be sure of that TC troops would have been in TRNC under the defacto situation till a lasting solution is found. What do u expect would have changed if all Turkish troops withdrown?

we would not have foreign troops in cyprus, the annan plan basically ensured cyprus stays partitioned..

turkey has no need to have any troops in cyprus, no greek or turk troops should be in cyprus

Nothing would change insan. It really is irrelevant how many Turkish troops occupy our country. If you want you can bring a million of them (and since almost all the Turkish troops are male, they will be probably fucking your wives and daughters).

What is important to us is for our land to be given back to us. If some others occupy it, it really makes no difference to us who those others are.
