BRITAIN HAS GONE MAD !!

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Well, according to the press reports you posted, the ‘idiot’ was in fact the old lady being treated, for it was she who raised the matter. The process, from then on, was perfectly right and proper according to the complaints procedure, without prejudice.

‘It wouldn't have happened if she was a Muslim.’

Pure prejudicial speculation.

‘……they only pressed the matter because she was Christian and if she was Muslim it would have been: "Oh how sweet and kind and thoughtful".’

…more prejudicial speculation.

‘To hell with the backward third world immigrants , if they dont like it piss off back to their shit holes .’

Prejudice based on stereotyping of the most dangerous and divisive kind.

If this report is, as posted, evidence of Britain having ‘gone mad’ and being ‘the joke of Europe’ as ‘stark raving lunatics’ then I’m glad I’m not sane, like you…

By the way, a point not stressed in your comments - after investigation the nurse was reinstated.

The fact that time and money continues to have to be spent on such procedures is a direct result of the kind of prejudice flaunted in this thread.

(FWIW my personal view is that belief in a god, and the subsequent religions, is probably the most divisive force on the planet - but I respect the right of individuals to have their personal faiths, as long as they do not seek to impose them, uninvited, on others, or indeed claim some sort of right of reverence from others – or kill others in their mission to impose their delusions on others, as we have witnessed from the crusades to 9/11)

Hello and goodbye mate . If you care to read my opening lines you will notice that I did state the nurse had been reinstated.
The old lady that put in a complaint ought to have been spoken to by the Plonkers who initiated action and told in clear terms that what the nurse asked her was by no means either racist , improper or in any way rude.
Old people , including this lady , can be very stupid at times and this lady was indeed bloody stupid.
My wife has been fighting cancer for more than 7 years , if she complained every time a nurse or a doctor said to her they will pray for her the entire nursing staff at both of the Royal Marsdens would be dismissed.
It is pure nonsense of the highest order to take offence when someone offers a prayer for you. The complete and utter idiots who proceeded with investigating such an act ought to be severely reprimanded .
Britain has gone bloody mad , this case is proof of it.
I will pray that you use your common sense my dear.

Why should anybody be offended by the offer of a prayer? If you don't want one, simply say no. The intention of the person offering is obviously a kind and genuine one. Britain is becoming the most retarded nation on earth (and it is thanks to idiots like Just Passing)

Let us compare notes. I was at the bank the other day when the cleaner came in with a funny looking, fuming Aladdin’s lamp and all the members of the staff swerved their arm around it and them crossed themselves. The customers, standing in the queue, repeated the ritual.

Schools begin each year with a blessing by an austere looking priest and then the show is repeated at the end of the year. At half past seven, when the first period begins, on a daily basis, all pupils in all classes stand for prayers. The walls of all classes are decked out with icons of saints. In one classroom I once counted 13 icons. It must be the record. Religious instructions, that is, Christian orthodoxy, is taught in all years, from primary to secondary schools (not forgetting kindergartens) but schools do not have time to teach evolution.

In all hospitals and private clinics, an icon of a saint is always found on the wall above the bed. That, comes free of charge, I presume. Sometimes, patients pay to have some priest come and say a couple of prayers.

I could go on but I think I have painted the picture of what is going on in Cyprus. What amazes me is that with so much religion going about in this island, with so many faithful people ready to take recourse to the divine, we still lost half of our country. Is this another case where God is playing games, testing out our endurance?

Having got all these off my chest, I must say that I do appreciate the point made by Miltiades. However, I do not think it is a testament of a country going mad. I think one also needs to look at the background of the old lady. Could she have been an atheist who was offended by the offering of the nurse? In the same way we need to respect a person’s need to worship a God we must respect a person who refuses to be intimidated by the believers. In the UK there is great tolerance for both worlds. In Cyprus, and this is a classical case of a state being mad, believers reign supreme and there is nothing anyone can do. Poor old Demetriou (Minister of Education) is trying hard but the Archbishop only yesterday demanded that two high priest oversee any changes he makes.

Miltiades my friend, where you live is an oasis compared to this desert.

I am not a religious person, but I don't see any problem with someone who is religious offering to pray for someone.

If you are any atheist, you know it won't make any difference. If you have some kind of faith, you know it might help.

Excellent. I agree with your every word. (Welcome to the forum, though I'd keep to the sentiment behind your pen-name).

Now, who thinks Carol Thatcher should not have been sacked for describing some tennis player using the word "Gollywog"; and who thinks Jeremy Clarkson should be sacked for describing Gordon Brown as a "One eyed Scottish idiot"?

Neither should be sacked. We have freedom of speech and if anyone considers the term Golliwog as racist then he is stark raving mad.
Blackboard is also considered racist. Who are these nutters who make such innocent names into racist ones. Blood stupid I say , you can not even reprimand someone who lives in the UK and constantly complaints about our culture that they should go back where they came from if our culture does not suit them.
The country is barmy has been for a long time. In the meantime I will call Blacks black , Chinese yellow , Asians brown and Cypriots handsome !!
These nonsense on political correctness has been forced upon us by "educated" morons , we have a few on this forum.
In the meantime , you handsome men and women of Cyprus bless your cotton socks that you live in the paradise island of Cyprus .
I need a drink right now , a Scotch I think !!

I believe Clarkson apologised for calling him (1) one-eyed and (2)Scottish. This made me smile as it is apparent that to be called either of these is an insult.

Don't you have most them working for you making catering equipment for all the those Turkish Kebab shops. Plus isn't the third world where you offload alot of your tin ware. What would you do if they all pissed off, you wouldn't have any cheap labour.

I guess we could send them all to Croydon but the place is already full with them. Still the man from Stombi or what ever could find a use for them, maybe drink coffee with him :?:

If the UK continues with its politically correct line, it will end up like Cyprus ...

The RoC was too soft for too long, with the Muslim expansionist Turks and look where it got them!

Learn from the mistake Cyprus has made (albeit one forced upon them by the Imperialist, departing Brit Colonialists of yonder year) ... and do not compromise with the immigrants or you will lose your lands as Cyprus has ....
