In an effort to offer some constructive advice to my fellow Charlies and Charloues otherwise known as Egglezokiprei , I have compiled a list of 10 dos and donts , ie the 10 Commandments applicable to us British Cypriots when in Cyprus interacting with our fellow Cypriots , either G/Cs or T/Cs .

1. Never say " we don't do it like this in England .

2. Never speak in half English and half Greek / Turkish .

3. Never wear ALL your gold when going out -especially Charloues .

4. Never say please , thank you and sorry more than once a day !!

5. Never flash your money , if have any that is.

6. Never enter into political discussions.

7. Never mince your words , spit them out loud and clear .

8. Never criticize the Cypriot way of life , it is after all the best in the world .

9. Never criticize the Cypriot driver , he/ she is after all the worst in the world.

10. Never refuse a pair of ameletita freshly off the charcoal. !!

Stick to the above and you will have many enjoyable days in the paradise island of Cyprus .

Have you, Miltiades, heard of the eleventh commandment? It says:

Keep away from Cyprus, stick to Majorca, if you want to avoid intimidation and disappointment.

The 11th commandment does not apply to first generation Cypriots who are by now far fewer and just about get by.
