The constant hate between TC & GC

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I don't think the CyProb can be excused away with such divisive views as you express, about the "bodily" differences between GCs and TCs.

Instead, concentrate on the behaviour which causes the emotions associated with pain, suffering and injustice.

If you pick up a hot object you drop it pretty fast. The pain of blistering has the same effect in your brain as the pain of the suffering we GCs have experienced from one or two or three times that Turkey has bombed and hurt the Island.

Yet one shouldn't just concentrate on the pain of the blister ... but learn to avoid the hot stuff which caused the pain (hate). Take safeguards to minimise such hurt continuing to happen.

So look at the cause, having learnt from the pain of the effect.

My statements are not short- sighted as you say. And I am certainly not talking about "bodily differences". Please point out where?

Here ....

I'm greatful for the Turkish blood I have, I'm greatful for the tan color of my skin, I'm greatful for my big green eyes, I'm greatful for my curly dark "turkish" hair.

Shamelessly you are trying to make out there is little reason for hate (a normal human emotion to pain and suffering) within the CyProb. As though the status quo should suffice!

True, Turks have very little reason to hate the GCs ... because it is the GCs that are still suffering, whilst the Turks enjoy much in gains.

Your attempt at earnest portrayal of pathos, is not uniquely attributable to you ... it's something we all feel, but you misuse this i.e. you are capitalising.

What is unreasonable is for you to ignore the 40% of Cyprus under occupation ... which you carefully do not address  ... Either accept there are causes which need to be removed so that the human spirit can prevail in peace, or admit you are just another Turk out to accuse the GCs of having no reasons to complain any more ... a bit like Zan and VP ... but clearly craftier

Whilst the Turks still occupy our lands ... it is only the Turks that are without excuses for the hate they feel against GCs ....

Sorry ... but until Cyprus is free of the Turkish occupation you have no reason to silence us.

I was going to introduce you to our Goddess, but I didn't think she would pounce so quick. Don't take it personal, she does this to all new forumers. I suffered the same indignity when I joined. She suffers from a common Greek Cypriot disease called Hellenism. There is more than one by the way. The whole world is split into 2. Hellene friends and Hellene haters. It's a very common disease amongst the haters. My prescription is to ignore them. Most attention seekers normally will get the message. They are also likely to electronically stalk you and in every opportunity will attempt to ridicule you.
Just ignore them.

What's that got to do with the price of cheese in Denmark.!

The point is, it was a bad system that created violent reactions and it should have never been used in the first place, because the "consociationalism" you very proudly like to present to us did not even live up to it's own principles when applied in Cyprus. It was a failed system from the beginning and should never be experimented with again in Cyprus.!

Try True Democracy in Cyprus next time.!

It's got to do something with ur fake idendity and blinded eyes by hatred. What u call as "true democracy" for Cyprus, officially called ethno-majoritarian nation state which eventually leads it to Hellenic rule.

Cyprus was peaceful in 1569 thank you very much.

You should know GR. You were bloody there, weren't you?
How did the GCs get on with the Catholics?
Like a house on fire would be a good description.

As far as i know there had been no murdering attempts towards the ordinary GCs under the Ottoman rule. Only the ones involved in spreading Greek nationalism in order to organize and provoke GCs against Ottoman rule, executed.

Wasn't there a rule that allowed the local population to pay half tax so long as they contributed one son to the Ottoman Army. Wasn't that how the Yeniceris were formed?

Yes but you don't know very much about Cyprus remember... so why don't you ask next time?

The Ottomans began slaughtering Cypriots from the very moment they landed outside of Limassol, and when they reached Nicosia some 20,000 people were murdered... nice start to happiness!

You’d think that a Turkish Cypriot would be an expert on Ottoman history…

Easy! I read through a history book and find that tens of thousands of Cypriots did not get slaughtered in that year or the ones before it.

According to the link of insan, the population of Cyprus:
Year Population
1491 168,000
1575 180,000
1881 186,200
1891 209,300
1901 237,000
1911 274,100
1921 310,700
1931 348,000
1946 450,100
1960 573,600
1973 631,800

Note how the population of Cyprus increases quite fast normally except during the Ottoman era. Between 1575 and 1881, that is 306 years, the population of Cyprus had only increased by 6000 people!!! 6000 people in 306 years!!!

But thats not all. As insan tells us, during the Ottoman era 60.000 TCs were created. This means that the native population of Cyprus was actually reduced to 126.000 by the time the Ottomans were done with Cyprus!!

Then when the Ottoman rule ended, the population of Cyprus started to increase normally again and within 92 years the population had increased by 445.000.

This shows that while the Ottomans were ruling Cyprus they were actively exterminating the native population, replacing them with Turkish Settlers. That is how the Turkish minority was created in Cyprus.

This is one such extermination of the native population, where the Turks killed 20.000 Cypriots within days:

In the summer of 1570, the Turks struck again, but this time with a full-scale invasion rather than a raid. About 60,000 troops, including cavalry and artillery, under the command of Lala Mustafa Pasha landed unopposed near Limassol on July 2, 1570, and laid siege to Nicosia. In an orgy of victory on the day that the city fell--September 9, 1570--20,000 Nicosians were put to death, and every church, public building, and palace was looted.

And then insan tells us that his minority has been larger during Ottoman times! Of course insan. Since you didn't let the native population to increase and you decreased it by massacres and oppression, of course your minority would be larger in comparison back then! [/quote]

Answer it. How did they get on?
