I also have a second name ! A couple of years back when trying to get my Cyprus ID it was discovered that I already had been issued one way back in 1958 when I was just 12 .
A new one was issued but had me down as Giannakis !!! I protested and demanded that the correct name ought to be used which is Yiannis Miltiades Savvides , as per my passport and all other personal documents .
Initially they refused telling me that this is what my original ID had me down as . They soon relented and made the changes when I started calling them PLONKERS !!

We have some peculiar name peculiarities in Cyprus especially when they refer to my wife as "Savvidou " and me as Ioannis . I fully understand the peculiarities of our names but when it comes to official documents the correct name , initials etc must be used .

Just to stir the waters slightly, my three kids all have middle names (I have two middle names!), the priest at the christenings didn't object.

None were specifically named after grandparents, we just picked names that we liked. My wife is GC and she didn't have any problem with this.

The naming of children after their grandparents is done to ensure that they get favourable treatment when the grandparents have property/money.

This is causing a lot of upset......which is no good for the baby, and i feel like I am going to have no choice but to back down......its making me really down

If you're planning to have a second child then surely you get to name it. No?

It's when they end up being George Georgiou, Savvas Savvides, Stavros Stavrou, Petros Petrou, etc. ad infinitum, that I start finding the situation amusing!

I think the priest only uses one name during the actual baptism service and our son and daughter only have one name, but lthere have been incidents in the Uk where one father insisted on giving his son the names of all the players in his favourite soccer team. Hopefully your husband doesn't have anything like that in mind for a Greek Cypriot team - only joking.
