WHat the hell are you guys doing with all these casinos?

Helping the GCs to spend their money.

Next question?

If thats the business plan then I have no issues. These fools should be parted with their money asap.

I am an old bore. Never gambled in my lifre (except the Lotto syndicate.)

Those idiots deserve to lose everything they have. I wonder what happens to the revenue?

According to an article I read in Afrika some time ago, the casinos are owned by mainland Turks, the staff are mainland Turks and they do everything to make sure that customers staying at these hotel/casino complexes do not wander out and spend money in the local economy. If this is true, it all goes into Turkey's coffers.

Thanks Tim. Ties in with GRs link.

The only saving grace as far as I understand it is that TC's are not allowed to gamble in these places. I suspect they would do the same to TC's who may take part. It is good that both community members are treated equally and should not be gambling - the worst addiction on earth.

Again, according to what I read in Afrika - not the most neutral of sources I know - a proposal is floating round for the casinos to be opened up for locals.

With a few exceptions, they could also flash an RoC identity card.

I know that Lurucadis are notorious for gambling, but my circle of friends are not. I suspect it must go on. Anybody fool enough to play that game, they are welcome to it.

There are large numbers of betting shops in both parts of Cyprus - although I get the feeling that there is a higher concentration in the north - frequented by many locals.

The sad thing is, it does not stay in the north. It goes to Turkey. Some people have no loyalty

The article in the Daily Mail is interesting. The GC had the money confiscated because he was taking "abroad" undeclared cash. And these people who declare the south to be "abroad" talk of a 50 per cent partnership.

Some naugthy words come to mind.
