There are some similarites and also many differences. The comparission has been made in the past.

Do you know much about the history in Cyprus? Do you think there are similarites?

Dont know the full story though...all I do know is, where the British Empire is concerned...99.9% of the time they are the guilty party.

Does the religious divide of catholics and protestants under the British Empire have any similarities between the divide of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots under the British Empire?

the basics are roman catholics who are the majority in ireland and protestants have been fighting and killing each other for several hundred years. yes people have had to flee their towns and they still are even today in peace. this is happening on both sides with neither having the monopoly on terrorism.

Iam pro British and thankful of british soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice in Northern Ireland in the fight against evil terror lords of the IRA and UVF/UDA. Was it not similar in Cyprus, my boss was in famagusta in 74 as a soldier.

With respect I personaly would not even begin to try and judge who is right and who is wrong in NI.

I guess my view is that it's less to do with right and wrong (though all who have used violence - including the state and UK government to persue their aims are in the wrong imo) and more to do with two sets of people that have opposed wishes and desires and have failed to reach any agreed compromise to these wishes. In that sense I guess it has a very close similarity to Cyprus?

Do you think that NI itself could be 'split' with one part joining the RoI and the other staying part of the UK? Has that ever been consider an option? Could it work as a solution? Really my knowledge of the situation there is lamentable scarce.
