That I know, Greek has loads from English like thesis and physics.

From English? Are you sure? :?

I thought "thesis" was Greek for a "seat", one of those on which you place your posterior !

If I recollect correctly Larnaca was derived from the Latin l'arnica - The flower. The name then became Larnaca. Anything to do with the flower Arnica? I know not.
