OUR GOAL IS TO FIND A FEDERAL SOLUTION TO THE CYPRUS PROBLEM

The Prime Minister evaluated his government’s achievement since coming to office at a gathering in Bogazici village saturday night.
Addressing the villagers, Soyer said that his government had succeeded in make important investments, which had been neglected by previous government, after 2004.
Stating that the CTP’s main goal after coming to power was to restart comprehensive talks and to hold a second referendum, Soyer said that allowing the Greek Cypriot Administration to join the EU was a historical mistake.
Reminding that 5 separate elections, including a referendum, had been held in the past 4 years, the Prime Minister nevertheless said that important achievements and progress had taken place in the country during that period.
Praising the government’s accomplishments, the Prime Minister said that during the past few years they had succeeded in raising the average income per capita as well as made important investments in the country’s infrastructure.

Also pointing out that the world was experiencing a global financial crisis; Soyer complained that the EU investment bank had given the Greek Cypriot Side a 300 million Euro loan with low interest rates.
OUR PROPOSALS ARE IN LINE WITH UN PARAMETRES
President Mehmet Ali Talat has reacted against the Greek Cypriot media reports which accused him of placing a bomb at the negotiation table on the new chapter of talks on property.
`The proposals I’ve put on the table however are in line with the UN parameters` the President emphasized.
President Talat explained that the proposals presented by the Turkish Cypriot side on property derive from the former UN Secretary-General Boutros Ghali’s set of ideas put forward in the early 1990s that envisaged the resolution of the problem through exchange, compensation and return, which was also confirmed by the UN Security Council Resolution.
The President said the Greek Cypriot media was trying to create
communal unity among Greek Cypriots on the issue which claimed that President Talat was placing a bomb at the negotiation table by preventing the former owner of the property from saying the last word.
The President also highlighted the importance of communal unity and a rational way of thinking among Turkish Cypriots on the Cyprus issue.
