Well put Makarios

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

 What do you call the Dutch blocking the Serbian candidacy?

No the same. EU did not vote for Serbs on account of their behaviour against the Bosnians. All of EU voted. As far as I know, here, there was no official vote for TRNC.

I seem to recall many years ago Charles De Gaulle very famously said "Non" to the British.

Here it is:

Precisely my point. Despite their wish, they were unable to block it.

If as you say, they were against it, Why then did they not block it?

My experience with the French people is not a good one. I was sitting in a restaurant trying to order chicken not realising that it is very similar to what a call bulli. Anyway the poor waitress could not understand me. A French family next to my table perfectly fluent in English, did not offer to help even though they were perfectly aware of my predicament, until the waitress asked them if they could speak English. They then decided to help.

However I will add that on account of Arsene Wenger, the French people are the best.

Perhaps they realised the error of their ways, I was hoping you would answer that one.

America mate...Simple as that. I posted a long while back about Greeces problems in joining the EU...many didn't want her in either...It was the USA's last minute intervention and helping Greece reach its targets that got them in.....Haven't got he article to hand now.....

Zan, you have to be careful bringing America into this. Last time I mentioned American/Russian Involvement in the Mediterranean, Orrrrracle accused me of living in Fantasy land.
I would go further and say that for the same reason, Turkey will also get in.

the only country that is blocking Serbia this minute from achieving candidacy status is the Netherlands.

Now what does the "trnc" vote have to do with this? The EU can only accept countries as nations...not miilitary bases.

What America wants it gets mate..Simple as that...The article I posted said it all but as I say, I have lost it. I would normally advise you to take what Oracle says with a pinch of salt but now I will say....Don't take it at all.
