The mental transformation takes place before you join up - it's called a lobotomy.

It's a job O, 99% of it is as mundane as an every day job. That 1% of the time is were there can be a transformation if you are poorly trained.

We? Which we is this? The collaborators with Denktash and his British stooges? You're on your own on this... and way outside of the Cypriot Ethnos – whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean.

I don't expect you to understand Chip as I doubt you have ever worn the uniform.

There are no worthwhile emotions which can only be had by the wearing of camouflage ....

Paphitis will you stop with this patronising uniform wearing romanticism! It is brainwashing such as that, which I fear will lead my son to repeat the mistakes of the past by being tempted into "glamorous" honorable service!

As far as I know you son will be wearing camos in a few years time.

The rest of your post is just nonsense. :?

Then perhaps you can explain to me why only someone who has "ever worn the uniform" can understand .... because I don't intend to don one just to find out the mental transformation which occurs.

There should be no need for a "mental transformation" to end old enmities. Why are you incapable?

Do you really think it is about colonialism or has it more to do with our stubbornness? A stubbornness that is unprecedented, unhealthy and destructive to the core.

Purdey,

"The Cypriot" is accustomed to making very stupid remarks and then the very occasional witty and maybe intelligent response.

He is capable of doing better.

All you can do is just ignore the stupid remarks and reply to those other posts which are at least worthy of a response.

Hey, just so we we're clear about something, joining the military is not the same as fighting for freedom!

Joining the military is to stand up for freedom and serve your country.

But as Purdey said, it is just a job.

Mate, sorry. I don't see it that way. I see it like Bill Hicks sees it.
