Bafidis; What I am guilty of is that I do not read every thread posted. With the limitations of available time it would be an impossiblity. Perhaps a big mistake. :? :? As you know, I like a bit of recreation, otherwise you would all drive me mad.

Thaks GR. A mine of relevant data (not all of them credible - this one suits me fine)..

Now I dont want you two fighting over who was right and who was wrong.

Efkharisto

That's ok... I owed Paphitis one anyway!

Did I read this right? I know you have a sense of humour, but that is a ridiculous statement. Are you sure it is not the other way round? or you could have said 'to keep the two parties apart'.

Now I will ask you for some credible evidence for this. Please.

Deniz is correct…

RESOLUTION 186 (1964)
http://www.un.int/cyprus/scr186.htm

One other little detail is that the name “UNFICYP” came much later and initially it was called “UNPKF” (United Nations Peace-Keeping Force in Cyprus).

Correct about what exactly?

That you goofed by claiming that the UN was sending a contingent for GC's sake when in fact they were worried about the INTER-COMMUNAL STRIFE.

Finally, I will remind you to “never strike the hand that feeds you”… lest it ceases to overlook your frequent errors.

The actual wording

Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot
THE RIGHT TO SELF DETERMINATION
ie. Create your own governments in one Country

The problem did not start in 1960. It started in 1 April of 1955. Establishment of terror organization EOKA.

Do you mean that it did not start in 1821? or even 1878, when the Greek Orthodox of Cyprus first unfurled the Banner for Enosis?

I didn't goof at all.

I knew it was wrong.

But as I said earlier, that was not the point I wished to make. Just wanted to outline the FACT that the Greek Troops were in Cyprus to prevent a possible Turkish invasion, and offer some security due to the Kophinou Attacks and TMT weapons smuggling. They were not in Cyprus to facilitate ENOSIS as is widely claimed by the TCs.

I knew the UN were worried about the INTERCOMMUNAL VIOLENCE and my comment about them coming to aid the GCs only was not true as I admitted above. So please keep up.

BTW, I am only waiting for Ricco to arrive and then it's party time! 8)

I hope you don't think I have let you off the hook...

To answer your question you need to ponder on which banner came first... that of Enosis or that of the Ottomans?

 At the very least you take things in good humour which is what I would expect from a CF lifer.

As for Ricco however, I sense a major mental flaw, and so it is time he went because I for one have had enough of that idiot.

That was the point I was making. A la Piatis style, when the temperature gets hot , revert back to the Ottomans.

When exactly did the Khirokitians submit to the Hellenic 'invasions'?

The Khoirokitians were assimilated except for GR! and Mihalis that is..

There were no Hellenic Invasions. The Hellenes just came, collonised and traded their wares.

It's ok for you. Imagine how the Khoirokitians felt when they woke up one morning only to find a horde of pissy Greeks on their shores?

"We come in PISS"
