How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

, as said by a Nationalist GC politician who wishes to remain anonymous.

Obviously, this is NOT due to any respect of the Humanitarian Rights of the Turkish Cypriots by the Greek Cypriots, or that they are sensitive to our need for international recognition, but more to there (Greek Cypriot)benefit!

Basis:
The EU have made it very clear that unification as the United Republic of Cyprus means Cyprus' current power of Veto on Turkish EU entry, due to Turkish Cypriot rights as part of a Unified Cyprus Government, would always be blocked by the Turkish Cypriots. Although this would leave Austria and France as the main two countries against the idea of Turkish EU entry, their objections would eventually pass.

However, and this comes from a prominent member of the Nationalist Greek Cypriot camp who wished to remain anonymous,
With a Two Republic Cyprus deal, the Greek Cypriots' right to veto would obviously stand as the only "Cypriot" EU member state on the island! Also, it would assure the Greek Cypriots that Turkey would never become an EU member state, thus removing the threat of Turkey (if it should become an EU member) flooding the island.

As I've mentioned, the above are the words and thoughts of a politician well respected in the Greek Cypriot political arena.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Did this anonymous prominent member of the Nationalist Greek Cypriot camp convey this thought to you directly, or did you hear of this from some other source? If the latter is true, are you at liberty to divulge your source?

DT,

An Interview.

You forgot that I'm a journalist and know many political personalities - especially of those that matter!

If you can also recall, Glafcos Clerides also mentioned something along similar lines regarding the TRNC - but obviously after his Presidency.

Hi Tim,

It was Directly. He also mentioned a few other scenarios, but I'll wait until after the first stages materialise before posting more; it apparently all works hand-in-hand.

Sorry, travelling to Paris from Kings Cross so my Blackberry Device will soon Blink-Off. I'll read your comments and reply later or tomorrow. Sorry to cut it short.

Cut it as short as you like until such time as you are prepared to substantiate your story. This is cloud cuckoo land stuff until you do.
