Many people will have read about the £3 million Cyprus property scam in Paphos involving J&I Estates, and their sole agent in Cyprus Peter Stephenson Properties.

Ian Beaumont, the director, of J&I Estates was locked away for a £450,000 fraud in Kuwait. His “partner in crime”, Andrew Nolan of Peter Stephenson properties has twice been banned from serving as a company director in the UK. On the second occasion, the judge branded Nolan a “complete fraudster” after his insurance company One Call Insure Direct went bust with debts of £2.3m.

On Thursday 3rd April, in its series “Holiday Homes from Hell”, ITV screened a 7 minute item about the scam, including interviews with a number of those who have been conned.


Zan is trying to compare Bananas and Elephants in his attempt to make a justification for a state sponsored corruption & crimes to those of corrupted individual businesses. At Least when a corrupted business gets caught, they are dealt with by the justice system. How does a state who commits crime and corruption administer a punishment on itself. Now you understand why I use the term "Corrupted Society" in the north, because the state has deliberately forced everyone to be part of this corrupt system that they have created and no matter how honest an individual TC may be living in the north, they have been forced to become part of the corrupted system. Corruption starts at the top and works it's way down to the common man whether they like it or not or even whether they want it or not. Then again, we deserve the leaders we choose to govern us, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.!


You are so involved in discrediting TCs that you cannot even piece together all the stories that come out of Cyprus and come up with one that is viable...


You have seen the result of the Al capone case and other cases that have been reported....Corruption is rife in the "RoC" mate and you know it. Corruption is corruption.....A apple is an apple....

The case that Miltiades is reporting, sort of, is the very same thing that has happened in the "RoC"......Lenders have taken out mortgages on houses they have already sold......Simple as that.....Both crimes are the same whether it is in the "RoC" or the TRNC...Apples is apples my friend...


You take our land after taking our lives, and do with it what you want or use the policy of the Akritas plan, in detail to make sure that not many TCs will ever be able to return even if we did give up to the "RoC"...

Houses left to rot so that the POOR TCs cannot afford to repair them and sell it on to the GCs for a fraction of the cost.....There is no doubt in my mind that if we ever should surrender to the "RoC" it will not take long for TCs to move out in great numbers. A policy that he "RoC" ill follow diligently....History has shown us this in other islands where the Greeks have been allowed to take over. We now what to expect now so surrender will never be an option...Be sure of that.

Actually, title deeds are not necessary to charge these people with a crime. These people have left a paper trail a mile long already from day one.

Did these people not pay any stamp duty to the "trnc", or currently pay any property taxes. Did these people not take out a mortgage from a bank for a property on a certain street with a door number. Can they prove that they are paying rent to another owner if they are not the owners. Even though they have not received their title deeds, are their names not registered in the "trnc's" land registry office and property tax office. The list goes on and don't be so sure, that with a little bit of bribing, that these information from the "trnc" offices can't be gotten from those working there.

I know you want to send a comforting message to these criminals to make them feel at ease so not to cause a panic by stampeding out of the "trnc" pronto, but you will not be able to save them I'm happy to say. By the way, it seems like, the Brits are some of the buyers of the GC's properties. Most seems to be other TC's living in the UK, so it is not just the Brits who should be worried about this problem.

Anyone who has committed crimes by knowingly buying these stolen properties should pay for their crimes, and just because there are also TC's involved makes no difference at all, or should the TC's who have committed these crimes be given a free pass. Well, they are given a free pass in the "trnc" because the state is sponsoring these International laws to be broken, but in the rest of the EU, don't expect any sympathy once this legal opinion becomes law for Europe. Last time I checked, the UK is a law abiding country and they will abide by these rulings also............sorry to have ruined your weekend.!

You have ruined nothing my friend......Facts are facts.....TC people sat and watched for years to have some GC with a heart and common sense to take power and make things right...They watched as their land was "Appropriated" and used to further the "RoC" and the use that power to fight against its own so called people....Now they are buying what they want and doing what hey want with it....

The UK will not allow the Cyprob on its doorstep...YOU can be sure of that....The court cases will run and run and the UK will use what it has to stop you...Simple as that....You can believe what you like....The backlash from TC in the K will be immense if it doesn't...

Zan, if you feel so strongly that those who bought stolen GC lands did nothing wrong but it was only because of the circumstances, therefore they should not have any worries being punished by the authorities in the EU countries they reside in, then why didn't your sister(s) not also buy stolen GC properties to build their apartments in the north. Why didn't you encourage them to buy GC land where it would be cheaper and that no way the original GC owners will ever cause problems for them, because according to you when asked very recently, you have stated that they did not buy stolen GC properties and I will accept that answer until shown otherwise. So Zan, why does your sister(s) do the right and legal thing in not dealing with stolen property and yet you condone it when done by others. Are you now upset with your sister(s) for not investing their hard earned money into GC properties just because they could have gotten more land for the same money they spent on a TC land.?

By the way, what backlash will the TC's do in the UK by those who bought stolen GC land as a investment, since they live in the UK, it's hardly for the purpose of having a shelter over their heads. If the majority of these Brits live in property that is neither in their names or have title deeds then how can they be taken to court, the name on the deeds is normally a TC resident in the TRNC. The Orams had title deeds theres a big difference, so all those Britis who were complaining of not getting deeds will be safe from prosecution as they will claim they do not own the property.

In the meantime, the TC is laughing his head off by taking the Brits and other TC's money for something they purchased but do not own. It reminds me of a joke when a Prostitute says to herself about being a hooker,

Kokott stated that it was her opinion that “the court’s decision in Greek Cyprus should be recognised and implemented in other European Union (EU) member countries although it concerns land in North Cyprus.”

Referring to ECHR

The Greek Cypriot Politis newspaper wrote that the section on ‘Purchasing Property’ in the ‘Cyprus travel advice’, given by the British Foreign Office, emphasises that “The European Court of Human Rights has ruled in a number of cases that owners of property in northern Cyprus prior to 1974 should continue to be regarded as the legal owners of that property.” Advocate General Kokott’s opinion that came out on behalf of the Greek Cypriots has worried northern Cypriot citizens. President Mehmet Ali Talat stated that the report was important and opposition parties warned that the impending court’s decision would have a devastating effect.

Potential Danger

Kokott’s report is advisory and is non binding, but it has been stated that court makes its decisions through such reports. If the Court of Justice leans towards the prosecutor’s opinion then all foreigners who have houses or investments on Greek Cypriot land in northern Cyprus will be affected. Kikapu, everything is not how it has been seen or sounded. UK government officially warns for this and that for any purpose, on the other hand unofficially whispers in the ears something else. Every wise man always keeps in mind the possibilities and risks and acts accordingly. I am strongly underlining my words abt this issue. In normal conditions only Mafia type illegal organizations can buy and sell stolen land but under TRNC's condition by taking into consideration that 50-60 thousands of TC refugees r deprived from selling or buying their own land bcz of the unresolved Cyprus problem; selling and buying GC property is sensible and most probably the circumstances will be taken into consideration if ever a comprehensive and lasting solution will be reached in the future. These r all negotiated in the past 35 years and still the leadership of 2 communities have been negotiating it. If it is certain that after an agreed solution only an agreed number of GC refugees will be allowed to return their properties, what's the point of depriving TC refugees to sell and buy GC properties to anyone they wish, under the current TRNC laws. What if the Cyprus problem still couldn't have been resolved in next 25 years? In my opinion, GC administration should do the same with the TC land in South, in colloboration with TC administration by asking the demands of entitled parties whether they want to exchange properties, sell, buy, compensate, wait for the solution and return to their homes etc. However it seems to me that the even the properties issue being tried to be used for political point scoring while most of the refugees suffering from deprivation of the right of their properties.

Zan, if you feel so strongly that those who bought stolen GC lands did nothing wrong but it was only because of the circumstances, therefore they should not have any worries being punished by the authorities in the EU countries they reside in, then why didn't your sister(s) not also buy stolen GC properties to build their apartments in the north. Why didn't you encourage them to buy GC land where it would be cheaper and that no way the original GC owners will ever cause problems for them, because according to you when asked very recently, you have stated that they did not buy stolen GC properties and I will accept that answer until shown otherwise. So Zan, why does your sister(s) do the right and legal thing in not dealing with stolen property and yet you condone it when done by others. Are you now upset with your sister(s) for not investing their hard earned money into GC properties just because they could have gotten more land for the same money they spent on a TC land.?

By the way, what backlash will the TC's do in the UK by those who bought stolen GC land as a investment, since they live in the UK, it's hardly for the purpose of having a shelter over their heads. Don't expect honest TC's to support those Morally Corrupted, Zan. Do you think they are going to threaten the UK government by shutting down Green Lanes in Haringey by having a
"Doner Kebab Revolution" or what.? I guess if that were to happen, it is back to Fish & Chips for the Brits again.! That should teach the Brits for not supporting illegal activities.! Your whole post is racist and insulting...Not only to me but to all TCs. You my friend need a big wake up call as to who you are and I don't mean as a TC........That you can't change. Only in your mind.

I told you before of the buzz around the GC camp. We had every reason to believe that common sense would prevail and Cyprus would return to normal as to the Zurich agreement. I will not lie and say that there was no fear of losing if that happened. That was until the OXI in 2004 when anger took over and a realisation that people cannot hang around for ever whilst others are making money. The thoughts, with me at least, turned to believing that a split was on the cards so why should we wait for another 40 years whilst all around us, and that includes the GCs, making money. We have been victims of sanctions since 1963 Kikapu......Why should I blame anyone who wants to start coming out of the gloom. You have no right to blame these individual families when the biggest profits are always made by investment from outside. Hit and run on both sides of the island.

The rest goes along he same lines which you have not bothered to think about...circumstance Kikapu......Those TCs on the island have been living by them for 46 years......
