Jokes aside, any F16's heading this way will have to get past the Tor M1 system.

The problem with Tor M1 is that the minute the targeting radar is switched on, then they become sitting ducks for HARM A2G.

But I agree with you that the Tor M1 is a much more effective weapon than the Mistral. The only advantage of the the Mistral is that it does not utilize radar for targeting.

It is not that easy to shoot down modern fighter aircraft, and this has been proven time and time again. For every SAM system out there, there is an effective countermeasure and so kill ratios are low as (against modern aircraft like F-16, F-18, F-35 etc). If this was not the case nations would not be spending Trillions building up their Air Forces with the latest hardware.

The mistral is still just a MANPAD with a range of 500m - 5,600m up to an altitude of 9,000 and modern aircraft can still defend themselves by utilizing these countermeasures...

They do not form a larger and more capable system but can be launched from larger launch systems, but this does not make it more capable or render the F-16 obsolete..

It is still just an IR SAM with a range of up to 5,600m... It does not require radar for targeting but can be purchased as part of a multi launch system.

Had you had ANY military training you would’ve known that fighter jets must descend to S2A range to fire their A2G missiles! That’s when the S2A defense does all the damage and not when the jet is on its way to a destination at 30,000 feet!

You are talking about cluster attacks. That would be the only time an F-16 would get close enough to a Mistral. But it will still bounce of an F-16 but probably kill some Ortikia...
