There is no way a Minstral could even dent the fuselage of an F-16 flying at 18,000FT. If it was an effective weapon, then there would be more countries purchasing it than just Cyprus, Estonia and Hungary.

I guess the Mistral could be effective in shooting some Ortikia. But I don't think they have an adequate heat source for the Mistral to get a good lock...

Apparently Al Qaeda would be interested in the Mistral MANPAD as they could be useful shooting down Airliners whilst on approach..

Mistral is a French hand held SAM that belongs to the MANPAD FAMILY along with the shoulder launched Stinger and SA-7...

They are as good as a cracker for the Chinese New Year or for shooting Ortikia (Yum)!
