I can understand Kifeas' frustration. Katsourides was the comrade that proposed Papadopoulos to AKEL in 2002 and with masterly minipulations (being the offspring of Yiannis Katsouras, the KGB chief in AKEL) "convinced" people that Papadopoulos was the right guy for President. Needless to say, his clique in AKEL forcefully objected to Christofias standing against Papadopoulos last February. Thus, there are serious political reasons for the party deciding to go for Kyprianou instead of Katsourides. What Kifeas wrote is good gossip for people in a coffeeshop who understand nothing about politics. Nevertheless, rumours that Katsourides is a corrupt individual, have not been substantiated yet and furthermore, when this individual proceeds further than flirting and scores a goal perhaps, this is put down to his good looks. He is irresistable, in other words.

Is it just a coincidence, that Antros Kyprianou supported the Annan Plan, wheras Katsourides spoke openly against it? Methinks that supporting the AP was probably a minimum requirement for endorsement by Christofias.
