If a Butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil sets off a Tornado in Texas, why has not the flapping of all those flags at the Inaugriation caused a Tsunami?

Answers only from scientists please :-)

The butterfly flaps it's wings in an up and down motion whereas the flags flap sideways.

Scientific enough?

I think I know who that question is adressed to. Will a pseudo-scientist do?

Flags flying together would flap to the same dictated direction, under a certain force exerted by the wind that is blown toward them, resulting in either a perpetual resonation, or a simple harmonic motion, depending on the duration of the 'wind' that is to be exercised ;)

Speaking as a homemaker :D ... whose washing is flapping in the wind I would a venture an angle from Entropy and perhaps a little Enthalpy (but no Empathy! ).

'Tis all to do with us being in a Thermodynamically Closed System (forum; F1) and the need to conserve Energy (sit in front of computer all day; Ec); whereas the butterfly expending Energy ( E = mc2 ), relatively speaking, is oxidising its sun-soaked sugar reserves and transferring them to the air (think Miltiades and GR!), whose molecules are set in faster motion, bump and collide (carnival time), with the end result that the washing will dry, the flags will fly and the world will be saved!

(The flags are passive indicators of the wind and not net energy contributors to the enclosed system ... they have Potential Energy .... much like me, who just needs some Activation Energy today.)

Will that suffice Madame? ..... or have we yet to hear the Fat Lady sing?

.... now that would create a hurricane, for which President Obama should spot check the state of the Levies.

Would you please adjust your language from Turkish to English? All these ı's and ç's are starting to get on my nerves, much as I treasure your posts.

I think it is your settings that are a problem Tim, everything looks perfectly OK to me.
