your stories....

hey everyone, i thought id start a topic based around brits that have moved to cyprus either recently or been there for some years. id like to hear from you guys regarding your expectations prior to moving whether it has proved to be all you thought it would be, also what have been the most difficult aspects of moving ie: renting/buying, finding work, wages, schooling for kids, cost of living, the divide between soc and trnc, intergration into cypriot society, social activities, outdoor lifestyle etc etc etc...

my fiance and i along with our little girl who's 3 are seriously thinkin about movin to cyprus the end of 09, we are absolutely sick of the uk and although british i cant say that im exactly proud of that. we wont be moving to cyprus to treat it as uk in the sun but more intergrate into the laid back cypriot way of life, paphos is our choice to move to, any opinions?? east side no f**kin way, too many chavtastic drunken arsehole brits who wanna put a hole in ur chest.

as for me, im a beachbum so what are the watersports like?? kitesurfing is next on my list of things to do before i die, im currently learning to dj so if anyone wants a live set for their party...hire someone else. lol.

thanks guys really hope this works and if we can meet some friends along the way then all good.

fitz, agi and holly :D :D :D

Ignore CBBB ... he was referring to your bravery to venture on the forum rather than moving to Cyprus.

The long-term economic and social problems in the UK, are going to make for a wasted life for those people that don't want to just exist to serve the Monarchy, re-load the fiscal pockets and skirt the unrecognisable remnants of a lost culture (that I for one have a soft spot for).

So, move to Cyprus, enjoy the water-sports (you can't miss them), and delve into the local culture. Support the RoC one hundred percent in its efforts to remove the Turks and restore the whole Island to Freedom, and you would have lived a life worth living .... :D

Many a true word spoken in jest, there is much more to moving and setting up home in Cyprus than most people realise; if I can help give me a call on the numbers I sent in the PM.

We hear stories like yours very often. The biggest problem for you will be finding a job with decent sallary. Unless you speak Greek and I guess you don't your options for work will be very very few, especially in Paphos.

Many a Brit has done well in Cyprus. No advise needed, if you work hard, learn the language and are prepared for a bit of a struggle you will be fine. Good luck.
