TC like GC far more than GC like TC

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

some beaches, buses, shopping areas etc were off limits for TCs, called discrimination...so TCs were frightened to go into those areas. Theres a name for that ????

The real problem as I see it is how to unite as brothers to build a stronger society AFTER the "solution".

This might be of some interest?

Mr erolz

Thank you for this idea

It might be "fun" to have a pretend cabinet ( 50/50) with a budget etc and see how it gets on. Some kind of " virtual " govt. of Cyprus.

I wonder if the energy devoted to this forum could in fact be channelled in this way.

I would be very interested as to what the "virtual" minister for education would suggest that we do with the history books in schools, for instance

perhaps forum members could nominate and then vote for this "virtual " government, Once this govt is elected then forum members could present different scenarios tyo see how this got tackles its problems.

Apartheid and Discrimination spring to mind. Although I have not experienced this type of behavior in Cyprus some of my friends who were living here in those days told me that they were afraid to to the harbor in Kyrenia and were only allowed to swim in particular spots. (Not the best ones I might add)

You would have to direct that question at the older members of the forum, for exact names of beaches and shopping areas, all I can recall is being told we are not allowed on that beach because that is a GC beach and being called silous turkos on by GC guards. Discrimination was rife and blatently used to intimidate the TCs community by the numerically larger GC community. I can remember our car being stopped by GC soldiers and them pushing us around and shouting loudly in greek, my mother was spat on by those GC soldiers for trying to protect me, the incident is printed in my mind.

This incident is planted in your head but yet you can't remember ONE place where TC forbidden? No ONE!?

VP, I really must applaud your tolerance...because of all the sheer torment and ridicule you seem to describe on the part of the GC, you even voted YES for unification in the annan plan vote? isnt that right?

VP, have you ever considered approaching Denktash Jnr about being allowed to broadcast your own version of Jackanory on Turkish TV in northern Cyprus??

Mr Main-Source

Entry to the Dome Hotel by the front door was forbidden to TC's.
They had to use a rear entrance since the only TC's allowed in Dome were as cleaners and gardners

Your right. My uncle's school had once organised an excursion to Kyrenia but they were not allowed to go. My mother had also said they couldn't go to Kyrenia, since the Greek Cypriot police made them turn back otherwise T.Cs were harrased by strict searches and insults... These are what I have heard from members of my family...
