garbitsch, you are well out of order there! And everybody else. I grew up and learned about the war
myself. My father is Cypriot, and I wasn't brought up with him, so I've learnt about the war myself from a lot of different sources and have made my own decisions. Don't get angry, I've kept my cool, and I'd like a civilised debate so don't take your anger out on me and my beliefs. Originally, when I was much younger, I just thought that main land Turks invaded, but I learned more and found out that Cypriots and Turks lived together for years and years, and for a while I was actually on the Turks' side, but when I realised they invaded years ago and were evil, I soon changed my mind. I'm not on the Greeks' and Cypriots' side simply because that is my origin
All of my teachers said this, not just one
How would you know that they're lying
You don't have a right to be called Cypriot because you are a Turk whose ancestors invaded a country, and you and your forefathers have been brought up for years there, but that does not give you the right to call yourself a Cypriot. Let's just imagine that the Germans managed to invade England, and lived alongside some English survivors, the Germans would have no right to call themselves English
Why are you saying that I think only Turks are evil
I NEVER EVEN MENTIONED OTHER PEOPLE
I think so many races (including the English) have been so cruel beyond words! I'm not racist, hate racists, and my family is exactly the same, so don't categorise me into their small minded league! Turks also changed names of our places which is no way fair. I've admitted the Greeks' guilt and accept it fully. It seems as though you're making excuses to get at me. I've not used foul language to get my point across, it's unnecessary, especially in a conversation about such a topic.
Anyway it's not just the fact of what your ancestors did all those centuries ago, you have been occupying Cyprus illegally for years and still are
Of course you personally are not going to feel this because you've been brought up there and it's just going to feel like your own home, but it's not fair, and what the Greeks did was retaliation and revenge for all those years of torture. It does seem like Turks are/were just against the Greek race altogether, because a lot of what I've said happened in Greece aswell. Why can't you just accept you're in the wrong and it's not fair
Don't go off topic or make excuses, just answer that, please. Do you honestly think you and the other Turks occupying Cyprus have the right to be called Cypriots -- REALLY? My uncle fled from Famagusta with bombs dropping all over his town, how would he feel towards the Turks? All he had was the clothes he had on
His family resides in Limassol and he owns beach water-sports and mainly builds and fixes boats in Larnaka where he has lived for years.
And Murtaza, I'm afraid that Cyprus should stay how it is. A joined Cyprus is just too much right now, and people seem to be getting on well how they are now. I don't think their should be an official separation though, because north Cyprus (which is rightfully Cypriot) would be officially a Turk place, which is not fair. If there are too many changes things seem to go down hill...
I'd love to go to north Cyprus though. I've heard nothing has changed since the 1974 war and it's still like 31 years behind. It seems a lovely place and apparently the Turks don't cause arguments and fights so at least if I went I would feel safe and welcome.
Leon.
