UN Under-Secretary General in Cyprus next week

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

UN Under-Secretary General in Cyprus next week

Postby MicAtCyp » Sat May 28, 2005 4:34 pm

Nicosia, May 27 (CNA) - UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs Sir Kieran Prendergast will visit Cyprus next week to hold meetings with the political leadership on both sides of the island.

Cypriot Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said here today that Sir Kieran would be having separate meetings with President Tassos Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, as well as other political leaders on the two sides.

********************

And all these after the initiative of Papadopoulos-who presumablu does not want a solution.
What did Talat do so far othrer than accusing Papadopoulos?Did he contact Coffi Anan to resume the talks by any chance?

First of all the name of the envoy was not Contis but Tzionis. You said he "has no brain", may I ask where did you find that information. Do you know who the man is first of all, and what his qualifications?
Second what if after this tour the UN decide there is ground for negotiations? The UN will delay until 3 October? Or Papadopoulos will refuse????

As far as Talat is concerned I would say if he was honest he would not ask for changes to the Anan Plan. This plan was turned down by 76% vote it is completely impossible to ask to re-negotiate such thing. Because we would end up to the same denominator.

How come you expect Talat to contact Annan for resuming talks?
Papadopulos said no to the Annan's plan and he should give a detailed description of changes he wants.

Annan doesn't want Tassos any more to explain to him what exactly he wants to change. This will be discussed during the negotiations when Annan decides to start a new round.

No! He realised that what he was asking was a nonsense. No one will give out and make public his negotiating positions, before hand.
