Were they my relatives maybe? Come on YFred. The Ottomans were building an empire. The reason they did it was to expand their empire and in this way gain more resources, more power and more people to exploit.

But as always we can trust the Turks to come up with some lame excuse for their invasions. I wonder if they themselves believe their own excuses.

2. The Greeks themselves have been guilty of a bit of Invasion activity themselves – like Egypt, Asia minor, Iran and Afghanistan springs to mind.

The Greeks build their own cities. In cases such as Egypt, Persia etc that we did conquer with Alexander the Great (although some Turks would claim that he is not Greek ) after we lost the rule of those areas we didn't continue to claim that they belong to us just because we ruled over them for some centuries. In Egypt for example there is a Greek minority which was created during our rule there. Today we don't go around saying that the Egyptians should share the rule of Egypt with the minority of Greeks that live there. We accept democracy and that our minority there will get their one vote like everybody else, and they have to accept Egypt for what it is, even if they disagree with what the majority decides. If they decide that they are incompatible with the Egyptians then yes, they can come back to Greece and live along with a majority of Greeks with whom they are compatible.

The same is true for the Turkish minority in Cyprus. It was created during a foreign rule of Cyprus and the TC minority today has to accept that the Turkish rule is now over and that either they should accept to live along with the native population, or if they don't like us, to go to Turkey and live among people which are compatible to them.
