The Grivas led EOKA B' organisation made 5 attempts on Makarios's life. By the end of 1973 Makarios had survived five plots against his life, ranging from attempts to blow him up as he drove past in his car to the shooting down of his helicopter, when he escaped from the wreckage untouched.

P.S. Grivas died on 27 january 1974. One must not forget the ecclesiastical coup against Makarios by spro-Grivas Gennadios, Bishop of Paphos.

You better check you facts Bananiot, because there were only 3 attempts on Makarios' life and none of them had anything to do with Grivas.

You are confusing Georgiadjis with Grivas.

BTW, Grivas was in Greece trying to overthrow the Junta when the 1970 assaassination attempt unfolded.

Some forumers, just like Makarios Droushiotis, can go on and on about individuals from the past because they know that most of these allegations that they either manufacture from scratch, sensationalize, or highlight, cannot be easily verified by the average reader, are too trivial and insignificant these days to be checked by a serious researcher, but nonetheless act as an effective terrorizing propaganda weapon against the average reader who exacerbates the problem further by passing the misinformation on to others thus abetting the propagandist in widening the divide.

Another worrying tale-tell sign is that these individuals concentrate 100% on doom & gloom stories from the past, never highlight or encourage anything positive that can bring unity to this country, or show the slightest bit of sorrow and support for the plight of others in other parts of the world, but focus 100% on what they are paid to do like robots.

The aim of these individuals is the preservation of the status quo because it serves their selfish interests, not a passion for their country, not a passion for their history, not a compassion for their compatriot, but a pure unadulterated GREED.

Their premise is simple…grab what you can today for tomorrow may never come!
