Sovereignty is Taken, and Never Given!
It's appears that President Talat and GC leader Christofias must now BOTH start telling the TRUTH!
The Turkish Cypriots want Dual Sovereignty - period, there simply is no hidden agenda, secret or whisper of any other compromise. President Talat has obviously been trying to style this out as "Two Founding States under a Federal Structure" and etc, but the bottom line is Dual Sovereignty of the island.
There is no compromise, no other substitute for the many years of isolation as either the TRNC, Northern Cyprus, Turkish Cypriot State or whatever you chose to refer to the land of the Turkish Cypriot Nation/People, conflict with the Greek Cypriots from 1963 to 1974, Genocide and Now tactical brain-washing and lies.
If President M.A Talat and GC Leader Christofias are serious in "Peacefully" resolving the Cyprus issue, as we know it will lead to an ultimate conflict if this round of talks should fail, they BOTH must be honest:
The Greek Cypriot's powerful influence of its "Church" policy of seeking Hellenism in Cyprus, and with the Pro-Turkish Cypriots Vehemently standing in the way of any Federal type of deal regardless of it being based on Two Founding states or not, BOTH leaders, unlike those of the past, have a lot sitting on their shoulders.
Yes, it certainly is different this time!
The Turkish Cypriots are gearing up, in the coming TC election of the TRNC, to stand behind the pro-Turkish Cypriot party, namely the UBP, while the Greek Cypriots have already voiced their complete disagreement in seeking a Two-Constituent style Federal formula (in other words, a copy of the former Annan Plan with subtle tweaks here or there).
So, what am I asking for in this Topic from all of you:
To be Honest.
To analyse and comment on what you all believe will happen should talks fail.
To use this space to leave comments to your Respective leaders and their supporters as to which is the best (realistic) way forward.
And, finally, to realise that ALL Turkish Cypriots at home and abroad will up the ante if Talks fail this time (I am not suggesting a physical conflict by any means), but perhaps seeking alternative Political avenues if the Greek Cypriots continue with their wish for complete claim over the entire island. I want it to be known that the Turkish Cypriots are preparing for a policy that will either allow northern Cyprus to be annexed by Turkey as Northern Cyprus, Turkey (which in our eyes is far better than living under a dominated government with the Greek Cypriots with whom regard us as a minority, non-Cypriot partner, and with whom we can not speak the same language, have anything in common to base a unified government on or share anything culturally), or move its quiet stance to a new level in Europe.
Our rights to self-determination will be achieved have no doubt about that, whether the Greek Cypriots want to go quietly or not - time is running out. If nations such as the former Czechoslovakia can split under an amicable agreement as two friendly Republic states, then why can't the Greek Cypriots get over their so-called "Invasion of 1974" excuse and start a new chapter (Get over it - Jesus!)?
Otherwise, I'm afraid we may have to adopt the Yugoslavian way of Partition!
The choice is yours, and time is running out! And, if our Sovereignty is not Amicably given, we will take it - similarly to how the Greek Cypriots have not been able to lay a finger on the TRNC to date. It's about time we took the next step, where I've been told that our new wave of Pro-Turkish Cypriots in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are in complete support of the UBP, and that the CTP are in Serious trouble for injecting their lies and false promises since April 2004 - as similar to this current round of no-progress talks process!
This time will be different, I can assure you - I've seen the younger Turkish Cypriot generation at political events and they mean business! They are passionate, have DUAL Turkish and Turkish Cypriot citizenship (The GC delay tactics have now back-fired and have created a Turkish Cypriot Nation of Dual Turkish and Turkish Cypriot brothers - Part Turkish from Turkey, and Part Turkish Cypriot).
It appears that the Former Tassos Papadopoulos actually had a point in his heart-felt desperate speech in 2004, prior to the Referendum.
