Masallah Mr Deniz ,
you called our elected president ''plonker'' haaa

Halil,

I know you will not let it go but I am apologise for my language. I am finding the whole scenario frustrating and annoying. They should remove sport from politics, whatever it entails.

Football is politics Deniz and is being used by the GCs to take control of the whole island.

Unfortunately so. I was thinking of our sportsmen. Who made the moves to be part of this?

You are angry Halil. So am I. Turkish Cypriot sport is being suffocated and I do not like it. I would like our sportsmen/women to be on par with our Greek Cypriot brothers. That way we can shut GRs mouth, when he talks about how great the GC sides are and how they are recognised world-wide. In the UK I live in a demokracy. Thats how I see it. I am angry at this missed chance. Are you not angry?

I hope you are angry with Talat for refusing FIFA's offer.

I would not be angry if the RoC gov would not impose their embargos on our sports men. I am more angry at the situation we find ourselves in. You need to be in our shoes to see how we feel. Strangled. Thats it. Damn politics.

Dear Deniz,
I am not angry , by reading what the people are writing hear , u can not understand whats going on here or what Talat was thinking or what dangers were Talat pointing out .
My advise to you is try to read some times Turkish Cypriots News papers .You can find full details in them . Try to read all kind of papers .

I never get angry Deniz bey , we used to this kind of the arguments or offers all the times . If you read what kind of the explanation came out from the TC's football federation you might understand better .

(The Federation said for the recommendations to be acceptably by them they would need to meet with FIFA-UEFA officials and make some changes to the proposal. )

(It states that issues that had previously been agreed upon between FIFA/UEFA and the Federation where now being presented as contradictions and did not concur with the recommendations made by the Cyprus Turkish Football Federation.

‘Therefore it is not possible to accept the proposal made by the football federations’, it stated
. )

links again for u too read some papers.

Such a familiar scene. GC's have tried a new trick, divide and rule. We have been deprived of competitive or friendly football for decades. My heart bleeds from DT for the call to allow our children to enjoy it. I am with Talat on this one. Why not wait few more months. Either there is an agreement or not. Then any one who wants to join them should be able to.

Have I imagined it or did Lurucina recently applied to join the south and were they not refused on the grounds that TC football teams can only join the TC federation.

Typical of GC’s to start boasting about their football as if everything is equal except skill and they are so much better. Total bullshit and you know it. Can smell it all the way from here.

Deniz, there was a time when the Cypriot national side used to get thrashed by anything from 5 to 12 nil and it wasn’t funny let me tell you! Back then I always wished that we would just stop participating in international tournaments altogether until we got our act together and reached a certain quality of play before going out there and making complete fools of ourselves!

Anyway, many years and dozens of disgraceful losses later Cyprus has finally reached an acceptable standard of play, not because of all the “practice” (read thrashings) but because Cyprus started taking football a lot more seriously.

I do understand when you say that you want your people to be out there playing with the rest of the world, but believe you me when I tell you that it’s gonna hurt and you’ll wish that you never did!

I wasnt attacking you GR. I was remembering how proud you were of the success of your teams. Rightly so, but the politics in Cyprus has prevented us for too long to partake or even attempt to reach the outer world. If you rememberit was the football matches in Cyprus which caused our meeting. You invited me and Alparslanto join you and your friends to a football match in Nicosia. How do you think I felt?

It will be a long struggle indeed.

Cyprus FA chief urges Turkish Cypriots to ink deal

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — The Cyprus Turkish Football Association, the governing body of the sport in the northern part of the divided island, could end its decades-old exclusion from the international game in a deal brokered by FIFA and UEFA if it agrees to put itself under the direction of the Cyprus Football Association.
Only the Greek Cypriot-run CFA is recognized by FIFA and UEFA. The breakaway Turkish Cypriot state is recognized only by Turkey, and FIFA rules don't allow for two associations to operate in one country.

"We offer them (Turkish Cypriots) a way out of this dead end," CFA president Costas Koutsokoumnis said Thursday. "There is no way out for Turkish Cypriot football except if they sign this agreement."

The two sides are expected to meet in Zurich, Switzerland, on Feb. 2 to agree on the deal, which would force the CTFA to apply for CFA membership, but would allow the body to hold international friendlies and run its own championship.

CTFA officials have resisted the deal because they feel it would render them subordinate to Greek Cypriot authority and set a bad example in ongoing talks to reunify the divided island.

Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat said Wednesday that there "was no way possible" for the deal to be accepted because it would dilute Turkish Cypriot control over their own institutions.

Cyprus was split along ethnic lines in 1974 when Turkey invaded in response to a coup by Athens-backed supporters of uniting the island with Greece. A breakaway Turkish Cypriot state was set up almost a decade later.

Talat and Greek Cypriot President Dimitris Christofias restarted moribund peace talks last September, but have yet to make any real progress.

Koutsokoumnis said the football deal would be a temporary arrangement until a formal reunification agreement is reached.

The CTFA would also hold a seat on the CFA board and have a say on the arbitration panel. It would also be allowed to keep its own player registry, but the CFA would retain formal control of a central registry of all players.

"I call on the Turkish Cypriots, if they're thinking about the future of their children and seek the hope that football can provide, to come to Zurich on Feb. 2 without passion or fear to initial (the deal)," Koutsokoumnis said.
