Neutrality was promised but not delivered as it was yet again blocked by the GCs, true to form.

Football is a lot more complicated than you seem to imagine... flags, national anthems, citizenships, etc, are very much a part of it making it yet another political issue. The days when football was just a pastime are long gone.
