Turkish lawyers representing pro-Palestinian activists filed a complaint Thursday with the International Criminal Court accusing Israel of committing war crimes in May when its troops raided a boat trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza.

Senior UN official uses Security Council session to bash Israel over settlement construction. Palestinian observer urges sanctions against Israel; Jerusalem's new UN ambassador says talks not stalled because of settlements

The end of the West Bank settlement construction moratorium was the center of Monday's UN Security Council session, as Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Oscar Taranco claimed such construction was in violation of International Law.

According to Taranco, Israel's refusal to extend the settlement freeze is to blame for the recent wave of riots in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan. He also claimed that settlers routinely attack Palestinians and admonished the Israeli government for failing to ensure law and order.

Soldier gets 5 months for stealing from Mavi Marmara

Israel's military court sentenced an Israel Defense Forces soldier to five months in military jail for stealing equipment from the Gaza-bound Turkish aid ship Mavi Marmara.

The Mavi Marmara was one of several ships in a flotilla attempting to break Israel's naval blockade on the Gaza. When Israeli commandos intercepted the ships on May 31, a deadly clash erupted aboard the Mavi Marmara. Nine activists were killed on the ship.

Israeli Envoy Slams 1967 Border Proposal: Says No One But Israel Can Set Israel’s Borders

In what appears to be the first official response to last week’s Palestinian calls for a peace deal along the 1967 borders, Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Oren slammed the notion, insisting Israel would never allow anyone else to “dictate out borders” and that the borders could only be determined by Israeli officials as a result of negotiations.

Israel invaded and occupied broad swathes of territory during the 1967 war. Since then the Israeli government has heavily subsidized efforts to move roughly half a million Israelis into those regions to establish a permanent claim over them.

Jewish settlers 'set fire' to West Bank girls school

Palestinians say Jewish settlers have set fire to a school in the occupied West Bank.

The girls school, near Nablus in the northern West Bank, was found vandalized Wednesday morning with Hebrew graffiti on the wall reading: “Regards from the hills.” Jewish settlers live on hilly outposts nearby.

The Israeli military says a complaint was received from Palestinians and Israeli police were investigating.
