The European Parliament on Wednesday urged its 27-member states to monitor the Israeli and Palestinian probes into alleged war crimes committed during last year's late-winter conflict in Gaza.

The resolution backed the findings of a UN-appointed expert panel chaired by South African Judge Richard Goldstone, which concluded that both sides committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity during the war that began in December 2008 and ended in January 2009.

The parliamentary move, which would give the EU an unprecedented role in evaluating the progress of Israel's war crimes probe, was sharply criticized by Israel.

The Turkish propaganda machine should pay you for all the services rendered to them.
They can quote you as one of the main reasons as to why they want guarantor powers over Cyprus , they could also quote you when pressing the Americans to recognize the "trnc" , you are such a valuable asset to mainland Turkey !!!

What about the recent ECHR decision? Is that because of my stance or that of your beloved US who little by little has destroyed the very fabric of civilized society and turned the world into a lawless arena of gun hoes where Human Rights have become meaningless?

The US has no influence over the ECHR , I thought you knew that .
Your continued attacks on the USA are doing Cyprus fuck all , perhaps Bin Laden and Hamas might rejoice at reading your vitriol against the USA but thousands of Cypriot Americans would not be at all happy that while they are engaged in the promotion of the interests of Cyprus you are engaged in antagonizing those who can be instrumental in forcing the occupation troops out of Cyprus.
As for the ECHR recent announcement , that is a temporary set back and with proper presentation by our legal experts such monstrous decision can be re examined.
Do bear in mind that the ECJ is the highest judicial body and not the ECHR whose many decisions in the past regarding Turkey have faded into insignificance . Also take into account that the ECHR in its announcement also referred to the illegality of the "trnc" and the fact that the RoC is the only sovereign power over the entire island . My own view is that the decision can be challenged for being inconsistent with the recent rulings of the ECJ.

Miltiades, you just don’t have the capacity to grasp the bigger picture of what’s happening on this planet so I don’t know why you bother posting in these threads… one thing is for sure… I’m not gonna waste any time with you.

Wrong! You're the one who doesn't grasp the bigger picture.

For those of you who wonder why new generations of Palestinian martyrs emerge then suggest you watch or try to access the Channel 4 'Dispatches' documentary 'Children of Gaza'. Next shown in the UK on Sunday 21st March at 4.15am.

Rightists prepare banner denouncing Obama as 'PLO agent'

A group of far-right activists on Tuesday announced their plan to hang hundreds of posters across the country depicting U.S. President Barack Obama under the headline "agent of the PLO." The banner is already on display in the office of National Union MK Michael Ben Ari.

"The poster is within the limits of the country's freedom of speech act," said Ben Ari's aide, Itamar Ben Gvir.

"I pity those who clapped during [U.S. Vice President] Joe Biden's speech," said Ben Gvir, referring to Biden's address to the Israeli people at Tel Aviv University last week.

Middle East Quartet condemns Israel over Jerusalem settlements

The Middle East Quartet set a deadline for peace between Israel and the Palestinians yesterday after condemning plans to build new Jewish homes in Arab east Jerusalem.

Meeting in Moscow as Israeli aircraft fired on the Gaza Strip in retaliation for a Palestinian rocket attack, the international diplomatic mission sought to revive plans for indirect negotiations that collapsed over the decision to build 1,600 homes in the disputed capital. It set a 24-month deadline for final settlement of the conflict and the creation of an independent Palestinian state. It called on Israel “to freeze all settlement activities . . . and to refrain from demolitions and evictions”.

In a statement read out by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, the Quartet said that it “condemns the decision by the Government of Israel to advance planning for new housing units in east Jerusalem”.

But, of course, no condemnation of renewed Qassam attacks - one of which killed a Thai migrant worker days ago. Typical UN blather.
