Good to see, GR, that you're having a wank over what's happening in your country rather than mine.

The Decline of the Israeli Right and the Increasing Desperation of the 'Anti-Semitism' Charge

The Israeli siege of the children of Gaza, some of whom are looking skinnier, is impossible to justify and provoked even a US congressman to urge a forceful breaking of the blockade. The Goldstone Report on Israeli war crimes (and which also acknowledges Hamas war crimes) for the United Nations is likely to attain an official status of a sort denied to previous such clear-eyed examinations of Israeli military action. (Israel's leadership suffered not the least from dropping nearly a million cluster bombs on the civilian farms of southern Lebanon in the last 3 days of the 2006 Lebanon War, though this targeting of civilians was illegal and the US Congress had stipulated that the weapons could not be used that way).

Israel silent on Dubai call for Netanyahu arrest

JERUSALEM (AFP) – Israeli officials remained doggedly silent on Wednesday in the wake of a Dubai police decision to seek the arrest of the Israeli prime minister and the head of its spy agency over the murder of a top Hamas militant in the Gulf emirate.

AND the latest: Dumbai's Chief of the Keystone Cops, Tamim, is hysterically challenging Mossad personnel to undergo DNA testing. That's rich. This bespectacled clown in the dress and headsheet sounds more and more like a spurned old maid. He can't get over that they came, they killed, they left....whomever "they" were.

High time he resigned for life under the Big Top, to which he is clearly better suited.

There is nothing in the Geneva regarding 'War Crimes' where animals are the victims.

'I saw Israeli bulldozer kill Rachel Corrie'

The final moments of Rachel Corrie, the American peace activist crushed to death beneath a pile of earth and rubble in the path of an advancing Israeli army bulldozer, were described to an Israeli court by an eyewitness yesterday.

The parents of the 23-year-old, who was killed by the bulldozer in March 2003, were present to hear the harrowing account on the first day of hearings in a civil lawsuit they have brought against the state of Israel. The country has never acknowledged culpability over Ms Corrie's death.

Rachel Corrie Family Finally Puts Israel in Dock

Seven years after Rachel Corrie, a US peace activist, was killed by an Israeli army bulldozer in Gaza, her family was to put the Israeli government in the dock today.

A judge in the northern Israeli city of Haifa was due to be presented with evidence that 23-year-old Corrie was killed unlawfully as she stood in the path of the bulldozer, trying to prevent it from demolishing Palestinian homes in Rafah.

U.S. condemns Israel's plans to build housing in east Jerusalem

JERUSALEM -- After spending most of Tuesday celebrating what he called the "unshakable" bond between the United States and Israel, Vice President Biden ended the day strongly condemning the longtime U.S. ally for approving 1,600 new housing units in disputed east Jerusalem -- an awkwardly timed move that threatened to kill a new push for Mideast peace by the Obama administration.

The housing announcement -- affecting an area Palestinians view as their future capital -- soured Biden's efforts to re-energize the United States' relationship with Israel, which has felt snubbed by President Obama, who has yet to visit. It also came a day after Israel and the Palestinians agreed to U.S.-mediated, indirect peace negotiations after a year of no talks on Palestinian statehood.

UN chief slams Israeli settlement plans

UN chief Ban Ki-moon "condemns" Israel's plan to build new settlement homes in east Jerusalem, and deems all settlements "illegal," his office said.

"The secretary-general condemns the approval of plans for the building of 1600 new housing units in East Jerusalem by the Israeli Ministry of Interior," a UN statement read.

Mr Ban "reiterates that settlements are illegal under international law... settlement activity is contrary to Israel's obligations under the roadmap, and undermines any movement towards a viable peace process," he added, referring to the internationally sponsored Middle East roadmap to peace.

Israel's interior ministry said earlier it approved construction of 1600 new housing units in Ramat Shlomo, a Jewish settlement in the mainly Arab eastern sector of Jerusalem.

European Parliament endorses Goldstone Gaza report

The European Parliament on Wednesday urged its 27-member states to monitor the Israeli and Palestinian probes into alleged war crimes committed during last year's late-winter conflict in Gaza.

The resolution backed the findings of a UN-appointed expert panel chaired by South African Judge Richard Goldstone, which concluded that both sides committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity during the war that began in December 2008 and ended in January 2009.

The parliamentary move, which would give the EU an unprecedented role in evaluating the progress of Israel's war crimes probe, was sharply criticized by Israel.
