Israel Stole $2B from Palestinian Workers

Over the past four decades Israel has defrauded Palestinians working inside Israel of more than $2 billion by deducting from their salaries contributions for welfare benefits to which they were never entitled, Israeli economists have revealed.

A new report, “State Robbery”, to be published later this month, says the “theft” continued even after the Palestinian Authority was established in 1994 and part of the money was supposed to be transferred to a special fund on behalf of the workers.

International rights group faults Israel's Gaza war crimes probe

Israel has failed to show it will conduct an impartial investigation of allegations that it committed war crimes during its Gaza offensive last year, an international human rights group said Sunday.

U.N. investigators leveled the war crimes allegations against Israel in an official report submitted last year. In its response last week, the Jewish state told the U.N. its current system of internal military probes with legal oversight is sufficient.

US asks Israel to stop importing pistachio from Iran

US Undersecretary of Agriculture Mark Keenum demanded Monday that the Israeli import from Turkey of pistachio nuts originating in Iran be halted immediately, Yedioth Ahronoth has learned.

Sleiman: World can 'no longer' take Israel's threats lightly

BEIRUT: President Michel Sleiman Monday voiced concern over the latest Israeli warnings to Lebanon’s Hizbullah movement and its backer Syria, saying he could “no longer take them lightly.” “The world today knows that Israeli threats against Lebanon are no longer to be taken lightly,” Sleiman said in a statement released by his office.

Israeli blockade leaves animals starving and owners with no choice but to sell up

An emaciated lion, a hyperactive camel, and the only "zebra" in Palestine – this unusual assortment of animals could soon be yours. Mahra Land, a ramshackle zoo in Gaza, is now on the market.

The zoo made headlines last year when its owners engineered, not with genetics, but black paint, a pair of "zebras" out of two donkeys. TV reports showed delighted local children patting, slapping and even riding the docile if exotic looking creatures. The donkeys replaced two real zebras that starved to death during Israel's three-week war on the Gaza Strip last year.

The apartheid will end when Israelis have to face its cost

The former US president Jimmy Carter set off a firestorm in 2006 when he said that Israel would have to choose between maintaining an apartheid occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and a two-state peace agreement with the Palestinians. That Mr Carter brokered Israel’s most important peace treaty with an Arab country was immaterial; he was branded an enemy of Israel, an anti-Semite and even a Holocaust-denier.

Mr. Irrelevant, Jimmy Carter. No one cares a goddamn what this ancient fool, who was always anti-Israel, has to say.
