Have new property developments stopped 'popping up'?

Postby Z4 » Sun Jan 11, 2009 3:24 pm

A couple of years ago when I was looking to purchase my property in Cyprus I searched the internet, spoke to several agents and several developers and the market was flooded with new develpment on the east and west side of Cyprus. Kapparis was seeing many new developments just like the outskirts of Paphos (i.e Coral Bay and Peyia) We finally purchased in Pissouri, where there were (at the time) a select 'few' developments to pick from?

With the climate the way it is have developers slowed down with new projects and do you think that resales is the way forward for the housing marketing in Cyprus?

As far as I can see, new developments keep springing up at the edge of the Limassol urban sprawl in places like Ypsonas, Agios Athanasios and Agios Tychonos.

Who are they being purchased by? Local, Russians or (surely not) Brits?

I have debated this on other threads. It seems that Russian demand has been bouying up the Limassol property market.

There must be several developers who are very concerned, and going out of business. Limassol doesn't really appeal should you wish to be near a 'tourist' resort (which main people do). What are the thoughts amongst the big boys? Will they be venturing out into Greece, like Leptos?

The Russians seem to love Limassol, whether for holidays, buying homes or setting up offshore businesses.

Russians are still off loading large quantities of cash. They like the good stuff aswell, no asking for a deal when spending £1500 on jeans and sweatshirts..long may it continue.
