I would have thought that the Greek Cypriots would fully sympathise with the Israelis after all they're only reclaiming what is theirs; isn't this what Greek Cypriots want in the north.

Those maps don't mean much since Palestine was never an independent country (british colony) prior to the settlement of land in 1948. Therefore I think that indeed the settlement of 1948 is the most just solution concerning the land issue. This brings us to the Cy prob and the 1960 constitution which at least land wise should be settled (and honoured) the same way. :)

Palestine was never a British colony; it was I believe mandated by the league of nations for Britain to oversee it.
The Jews were promised their own homeland by the league of nations/UN so they made sure that the promise was kept.
