How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The Continental Shelf of Cyprus…

Resources for the study of the Continental Shelf of Cyprus…

Given the topic's complexity and sheer volume of legislation involved pertaining to the international Law of the Sea, and in the case of Cyprus further exacerbated by the additional London/Zurich treaties, I've decided to simply present everyone with many relevant credible sources on the matter so that we may all delve the issue as a group so here goes…

A historical perspective of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (LOSC).…

“In 1958, the first United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea accepted a definition adopted by the International Law Commission, which defined the continental shelf to include "the seabed and subsoil of the submarine areas adjacent to the coast but outside the area of the territorial sea, to a depth of 200 metres, or, beyond that limit, to where the depth of the superjacent waters admits of the exploitation of the natural resources of the said areas".”

TERRITORIAL SEA AND CONTIGUOUS ZONE

“Breadth of the territorial sea:

Every State has the right to establish the breadth of its territorial sea up to a limit not exceeding 12 nautical miles, measured from baselines determined in accordance with this Convention.”

Maybe the Turks do not understand the mathematical term "Median"

Further proof of how bad they are at numbers (UN-Proflie link):

People

Population:

total: 732,900 (84.7% Greek Cypriots, 12.3% Turkish Cypriots, 3.0% others)

12.3% huh! .... occupying nearly 40% of the Island! Oh I do "empathise" with your "plight"!

It would be complete if there was a report from the Turkish perspective. As they are your main tormentors, why not find something on Turkeys point ov view so we can all judge.

Thats a good boy. No half truths GR.

:) Good point! Cross-examining Turkey's continental shelf in parallel would highlight any regions of joint interest or “economic zone” as they call it, although it’s a bit different to “continental shelf”.

As you (plural) say, we all like to hear both points of views. To be honest, I havent a clue about territorial waters and continental shelf' , but only in the geographical sense. So lets have the full picture.

The raise of population in "free areas" from abt 80% to 84.7 seems like either the TCs temporarily/permenantly settled there in the past few years or the Pontians and some mainland Greeks? Since the census data dated back to 1995 it seems like they r either Pontians or/and mainland Greeks mixed. Ahh i forgot that rich and foxy government of "free areas" encourages and aids families to have as many children as they can. Ahh wish i would be there, i bet i'd make at least 12 children if my wife agrees too, ofc. I love kids so much :D

One can only imagine what sort of crap you must’ve been posting back in 2003 when you first joined if this irrelevant rubbish is what you can come up with five years later…
