"Routing of the Greek Cypriot Government
In 1967 there were heated fights once again in Cyprus. The Greek Cypriot National Guards Army, under the command of Grivas, attacked Kofunye (Gecitkale) village and killed 24 Turkish Cypriots. Turkey once again began war preparations. Following US mediation the Greek Cypriot side accepted Turkey’s conditions and sent the Greek soldiers, that had entered the island illegally, and Grivas to Greece and the danger of war was eliminated.
After the 1967 Kofunye crisis there were important steps taken towards the conversion of the Republic of Cyprus into a Greek Cypriot Republic. Makarios made a deep-rooted change in the policy he had been pursuing until then distinguishing ‘efkteo’/ ‘efikton’ (What is achievable and what is longed for) and throwing it in the political scene. According to this Enosis was an “ideal that has been longed for” however is was not “achievable” under these circumstances. Independence on the other hand was “not wanted” but then again it was “achievable.” This meant that: Enosis policies have been hand-in-hand with the efforts to get the Republic of Cyprus to continue to function although converted into a Greek Cypriot Republic by then."

Oracle, dear; i guess u trust a Turkish Cypriot named Niyazi Kizilyürek who is Associate Professor and Chair person of the Turkish and MiddleEastern Studies Dept. of University of Cyprus in the "free areas". No?

http://www.hum.ucy.ac.cy/TME/people/kizilyurek.htm

It's up to u to improve urself and have a lil bit of empathy and broad visioned mind.(no offend plz) Just my 2 cents. :)

It's easy to throw the empathy word around as if you yourself live by it. But what is the evidence for that? After all you also told me you were not a Nationalist, yet gave the classic Turkish Nationalist rhetoric as your views.

Whether I say I have empathy or not, makes no odds. The fact I live in, and respect, a democratic Country, which abides by International Laws and is striving to be more free, more open, suggests that if I claimed to be "empathic" , then you can be sure my actions and lifestyle would honour that, not just my words.

But what of you and the other "empathy" conjecturing TCs? The ones who live in an ethnically segregated, militarily occupied land; wanting only recognition ..... and empathy!

Insan I don't idolise anyone, as you clearly do Drousiotis, a paid journalist. I have been brought up to be critical, truthful and obey the Laws drawn up by the Will of majorities, who whether wrong or right, can be persuaded into my corner, only if I try to change things in the correct manner.

Start with yourself. Maybe the problem is right in front of you. If you want to be a liberal, why do you put up with a military regime? I oppose it as much as I can, with all legal means available to me ... despite the constant jibes to label me and shut me up.

Maybe you feel guilt at the hypocrisy of espousing "empathy" and liberalism, whilst all the while you may be no better than the Turkish invaders for siding with them, against the only true Democracy of this country ... the RoC.

Plz quote from classic Turkis nationalistic rhetoric and my views then prove it to me that my views r same with it. U always sound like a nationalist if u want i can prove it to u by comparing ur views with Greek nationalists.

This is the inevitable consequence of the historical events of Cyprus. Try walking in our shoes.

I didn't say u idolise anyone. :p And i didn't idolise Drousatis either. Plz prove me that he is a paid journalist. :p

Ok dear, i am ready to start it myself... gimme some good reading sites regarding what i know wrong. There's no miltary regime here dear but sure there's a baby democrasy that needs to be improved a lot and it depends a lot on our economical conditions. I know some suit-able democracies as well :p

Another one?

Why are so many GC/Greek politicians/journalists choosing to work for us TCs I wonder?

Don't worry woman, no one is even considering the thought of attempting such an impossible task such as shutting you up.

Besides, we can use people like you to show the TCs what awaits them in a unified Cyprus.

Maybe you feel guilt at the hypocrisy of espousing "empathy" and liberalism, whilst all the while you may be no better than the Turkish invaders for siding with them, against the only true Democracy of this country ... the RoC.
