What about acknowledging that you screwed up big time and that this is the fastest death of a thread in the history of the forum?

I don't know about that, in this case. This is a silly quote, and it is dishonest not to make it clear that Ioannides is being quoted, but this looks like an interesting document and I will try to read it when I have time.

You would like that, wouldn't you GR.

This is not a screw up at all, it isthough childish of you Greeks to try and downplay the opinions of anyone who says anythiong against another Greek, even if the opinion was from another Greek who had the same ideas of enosis as did Makarios.

You still haven't answered my question though.

What about those who turned against him and wanted him dead, did they not have the same opinion as Ioannides?

By the way, something else that is of interest here. According to you, you are not Greeek and do not want enosis, Makarios was Greek and wanted enosis which is both against your own "Cypriot" ideas, why are you then defending this selfish and false "priest"?

Ok, we'll remember that when you next post a link to "prove" your "rubbish opinions".

Relying on the opinion of a psychopathic anti communist and anti Turk (Ioannides) is a safe way to prove what exactly?

Do that Tim, I'm sure you'll find something "silly" to quote from that document.

Anyway Tim, "dishonest" it was not, I posted the link for everyone to read where it came from and who quoted it. "dishonest" would have been for me to claim it was quoted by someone else.

If he was pro-communist, would you have still called him "psychopathic"?

It was 100% dishonest because you intentionally quoted a PORTION of someone’s opinion without making any reference to them when it's very clear below who was doing the talking…

General Ioannides stated that everyone should forget
that Makarios was an international figure, that he was a national hero,
that he had served several useful functions and that he was a man of
the cloth; Makarios had become a rotten priest homosexual; he was
perverted, a torturer, a sexual deviate and the owner of half the hotels
on the island. To preserve his position and to continue his activities,
Makarios was willing to sacrifice seventy per cent of the Greek Cypriot
population (only thirty per cent were AKEL) and entire anti-Communist
Turkish Cypriot population. Ioannides asserted Greek Cypriots in
National Guard realized these facts and had begged motherland for
chance to act against Makarios; General claimed that he only assisted after being presented with a fait accompli.

It’s a classic case of deception. Image

And what if they did? :?

Makarios was born in Panayia in Paphos from a family of Cypriots so that technically makes him a Cypriot, who may have been convinced (read brainwashed) into thinking that he was "Greek" like thousands of others in those days… he was only human.

The reason I "defend him" is because Turkish Cypriots like yourself, WRONGLY shift all the blame on him and assume that he was some kind of a Rasputin but nothing is further from the truth because from all the protagonists of the time, he was the most logical and peaceful person and if it were not for Makarios constantly putting the brakes on psychotic “Hellene” criminals like Grivas and Samson, there probably WOULD have been a TC genocide.

The next time you’re near a church consider lighting a candle for him because I’m pretty sure he saved your people many times.
