Retirement village

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Hi CBBB

I am safe, as I meely live in a humble shack, so no-one with a 5 bedroom mansion, sorry 'luxury mansion', would want to live near me. I am also, neither rich, intelligent or hugely successful, so again, I would make a most unsuitable neighbour. Nor have I beaten anyone up for at least a week.

Changing the topic entirely; do people think that, frequently, posts made in the early hours of the morning are alcohol-fuelled and a total load of, if I may be permitted to use the word, b*ll*cks?

There does seem to be a much higher percentage of b*ll*cks (as you so politely put it) posted after the midnoght hour. This also seems to be true in the other place I am not supposed mention, but those that do it and their posts normally do a disappearing trick courtesy of j....

Sorry to disappoint you. I don't drink, can't drink even. I have stomach and bowel cancer. Its terminal, I will die in the next few years (1 to 3) despite my treatment which is just prolonging the inevitable, and I am here in Cy to see my days out in warmth and the view from my veranda onto the bay. What I have not done is bought a property from Leptos, and so do not have to join an action group of the people who have been ripped off. I post at odd hours, not because of my alcoholism (which even a hot toddy would cause me to vomit blood) but because pain, acid and upset stomach cause me to be awake whilst you sleep. I know the folk at the Leptos concentration camp. I know their "spokespeople". I know their ambulance crew, as I was a senior officer with the West Midlands Ambulance Service - and its predecssor. This is how I know what I know, and the truth. My neighbours were a problem. I am fortunate enough to have a trio of sons who came over to deal with it and their little b@stards who don't harass us anymore. But I do stick with my point that unless you are a big man, know a big man, or have access to big men, you are going to have the mickey taken out of you - from fixing your gutter to repairing your car. This is Cy, not UK. Now, please check my post for spelling or grammatical mistakes and decide if I am a drunk posting away willy nilly. In fact I am dripping with sweat, nauseaus and have all the windows open apart from the room in which my belove wife sleeps.

Hi Steve

I am sorry to hear of your illness; it is just that the bombastic tone of your post came across as from someone who was 6' 2" standing on their ego. You also seemed to belittle everyone else, you had come across. Hence my initial opinion that your view had been unbalanced by alcohol; you meet all sorts on the Internet.

Your approach to life is so different from mine, that I find it hard to understand, but I suppose if it works for you and you can cope with constant abrasion and antagonism, then that is the way you must live your life.

But do you have friends - or are they people who acquiesce to get along with you? Do you have Peace of Mind, or just a count of victories over others?

Let me tell you what this reminded me of. Many years ago, on a very different Cyprus Forum, we came across a 6' 4" Karate expert, who had served a Life sentence in Barlinnie Jail; I remember him saying 'I got no time off for good behaviour - there was none'. Things got to the point, where a friend of mine, who runs a 'protection agency' agreed to fly over and they were to sort matters out, physically! The following day, Mr 'Barlinnie' came clean and admitted that his posts had been fuelled by brandy and that he was a 5' 8" accountant, or the like.

As I said, you meet all sorts on the web, which really is an electronic fairyland. Once again, I wish you a life without pain.

Please, don't be sorry for me. That is the last thing I would ever want from anyone, ever. Its coming to me a bit earlier than i would have liked, a bit earlier than my nearest and dearest would have liked, but at least I am not going to meet my mortal coil in a damp concrete slum where I have to pay someone over the odds to make it safe an liveable when I should have the deeds and the choice to decide who fixes the problem.

I've been here a while now, longer as a holiday maker, and even longer as a Soldier. Do not buy a house with a communal pool. Leptos will charge you the price of a car to keep it clean, and your neighbours will change every fortnight, but will get drunk by the pool and leave condoms in the flowerbed every night and keep you awake.

Buy only a detached re-sell with deeds. No new build, no Honest Marios developers Ltd, no "we know a great lawyer in Nicosia", and buy nothing from the Mafisoa who masquerade as estate agents. For instance, they tried to sell a damp, dangerous, electrically unsafe apartment to my niece. Put a lightbulb on the damp wall, it lit up. Our Cyp friends secured them a fantastic place a few days later in a none tourist area for less than the electrically unsafe hovel they were offered.

What I cannot understand is people parting with over £100k, £300k to 500k in some instances, and not having the deeds to the property they live in, and have to pay over the odds for a Sri Lanken on a quid an hour to clean their gutters and fix their pools.

Apart from our recent problems (solved) with the local chavs, and our other problem in the summer with the Vipers who bred in our garden that had to be dealth with, we are hapy, comfortable and in the debt of no-one

Do not go to a "retirement Village", a "golfing village" or any other type of proposed mass commune. It will bite you in the backside.

Regards

Steve

Wow, what a tale of dismay. The biggest problem I have had is my gutter leaked, fixed in two minutes with a new connector.
