Mr suetoniuspaulinus

A good point.
Maybe cypriots should learn how to rule themself.
Not to accuse each other for things go wrong.

Kifeas
If from a simple straightforward question, you managed to extract feelings of hatred against TCs, then I can confidently say that the subject you have been lecturing in the EMU must have been related with Parapsychology or fortune telling.

Unless you have some V.O. 31 bottle next to you while you are writing the above posting.

Kifeas I dont have to be a parasycologist or even a fortune teller to workout your mentality, its clearly evident from your posts your mindset towards TCs, I can only hope that you are not a Mr average GC, god help us if you are we dont stand a chance in hell.

Your asking whether the EMU is built on GC land was diverting the subject which was simply providing cannedmoose with information about the EMU and how he may share his knowledge with younger generations, which imo is comendable. back to an issue which is very sensative to all both GCs and TCs, your negative and almost racists views towards TCs everything we do appears to illegal or incorrect to you and you seem to be on a witch hunt, we have been living on 37% of the island for 31 years, approx 85% of it is GC related land, what do you expect us to do? wait for a solution and put everthing on hold until Denktash or Papadopolous, Turkey USA UK EU UN feel well its time for a solution. Lifes goes on like it or not we as TCs have succeeded to survive under embargos and under very difficult conditions, I feel that this makes many GCs very uncomfortable, EMU is a very good example of what we TCs can achieve, it has student from all over the world, we are very proud of all our universities and your remarks about the land was below the belt and unnecessary, we are a people here we need to be treated as such we do not want favours from the GC administration, if this problem can be solved then why arent they solving it if they have the power, they cant they have other agendas like staying in sole power and not sharing anything with a community which they will always look down on and betlittle at every opportunity, if you had any goodwill towards TCs you would have commented postively on how large the campus is or the number of students that attend or the international lecturers, but no your persist with your your are all thieves we are the lords and land owners mentality to push us further and further away from any form of unification, step back and take a good look at your attitude towards us and please tey to be truthful and not condesending which is another trait in your personality and try to be more constructive, I am trying to be positive you should also try then maybe we might be able to understand each other.

Are there any GC claims on the land that this University was build?

Why Kifeas do you want to have it knocked down?? your priorities and TCs hatred is frightening, the more i read your posts the more your venomous remarks confirm why our communites have been living apart for the last 31 years and why we will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Hey Viewpoint,

I can understand that you might be touchy about questions of the type that Kifeas asked concerning land claims, but it was just a question. If after your hypothetical affirmative response to his question he then came back to say that the EMU should be torn down, then the sense of outrage that you expressed above would have been more understandable.

From my reading of Kifeas, I think he is the kind of person who likes to collect information, so that he can better analyse the situation, and therefore he asks lots of questions. It's not fair on him to assume that his motivations are as you describe.

Which brings us to the issue at hand, Kifeas. If the EMU is built partly on GC land, what sort of settlement do you foresee? For me, it would be a straight case of compensating the original owners, as you would when the government takes land to build a hospital or an airport - according to the principle of international law that a State can take over a particular property if the public good so demanded it, so long as the previous owner was suitably compensated.

It seems ridiculous to envisage a solution whereby the universities, hospitals, airports and roads in the north are still not recognised as legitimate, even after the Comprehensive Settlement. Don't you agree?

I think Kifeas knows well that EMU was built on a G.C land and after he got the answer he had already known, he'd urge Moosie not to go to that uni since it is an illegal school built on a stolen G.C. land. I do not think this has to do with his "racist" "hatered" towards T.Cs. I do not know why he keeps doing this, but I got used to it - no offence though, these are what I think and could be totally wrong too.

Alexandros,
It would be way bellow me to say that any public benefit institution should be demolished because it was build on land that didn't belong to those who build it. I agree with you that all such cases can only be dealt with compensation payments to the owners. I wish it was only those cases that we will have to deal with, regarding construction on GC land. Even if all such cases are combined together, they constitute a very small fraction of the entire problem regarding GC properties in the north. Unfortunately most TCs do not realise how serious this problem has become, especially after this construction boom of the last one-year or so.

Garbitsch,
I do not have hate feelings against the TCs. TCs are part my country. TCs are part of the history of my country. TCs are part of the people of my country. And I love my country, I love it's history and I love it's people. And when I say that love my country, it means that I love every corner of it. And when I say I love it's people, it means I love all it's people, at least all those who equally love it and who are equally proud of it, irrespective of what religion, language and ethnic background they may have.

What I fervently hate though is the opportunism and adventurism of some people and especially some part of the leadership in both communities.

I hate the role that the church and the so-called "nationalistic front" have played on behalf of the GC community. Thanks God they have lost most of their influence nowadays, although they are not yet, entirely dead. Insallah!

I hate the role of the equivalent nationalistic front within the TC community. Unfortunately they continue to play this role and they continue to be influential among the TC community. They continue to favour the separation of the two communities and deeply inside them they continue to favour partition. They see the "interests" of the TC community to be separate and conflicting to the interests of the GC community. I cannot otherwise explain this senseless and insensitive looting of GC properties in the north, which has already exited the TC community's fair land share.
