GAMBIA: “WE WILL RECOGNIZE THE TRNC”

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby cannedmoose » Thu May 26, 2005 6:26 pm

Ok, I'm confused as to where this attack has come from. Fair enough have a go at EMU if they've built on GC-owned land, but having a go at VP seems to serve no purpose here re...

Kifeas,

Calm down man!

I respect what you feel about your identity and in my opinion you need to respect what I FEEL about my identity as well.

Yes, being "Cypriot" is not enough for me.

I am currently a PhD student in UK, and I see many GC everyday around. Majority of these people even dont say "hi" to TC, completly ignore TC. Beleive me having a friendship with a greek is much much easier than a GC.

I dont want to be a "cypriot" who gives a passport Abdullah Ocalan.
I dont want to be a "cypriot" who supports armenian genocide claims.
I dont want to be a "cypriot" whose president has business relations with Milosevic.
I dont want to be a "cypriot" which always gives 12 points to Greece in eurovision and gives 0 to Turkey.......

I sincerely appreciate your strong possesion of cypriot identity but when you say "I am cypriot" outside people will firstly imagine "a guy from one of the greek islands". I DONT WANT TO BE THIS KIND OF "CYPRIOT".

Yes, I am CYPRIOT as well. BUT I DONT WANT TO BE "ATTACHED" TO CURRENT CYPRIOT IMAGE.

But just be realistic. Maybe we can form a real cypriot identity but this wont happen in one day as Murtaza says. We sould firstly understand and accept our differences, respect each other then hopefully...

Don't you read that I was accused of being a TC hater, Moose? If someone is asking whether there were any GC claims on the land it was build, it means he is TC hater? Where is the logic in this assault?

I am not aware if such claims exist. I just asked. Did I say that it should be knocked down as viewpoint implied?

No, it doesn't justify either... it defeats me sometimes why we can't just treat each other with a bit more respect sometimes, even if we vehemently disagree with each other. At the end of the day, the continuation of this conflict between us is largely due to the current-day inflexibility and short-sightedness of politicians rather than actual hatred between Cypriots.

Nonsense!
An individual had chosen to give his passport to Ocalan. What does this have to do with you been a Cypriot? If a Turk murders his daughter because she was raped by another Turk, (a usual habit in Anatolia,) then all Turks must say they do not want to be Turks because of this.

Oh god! I do not want to go further answering your posting. Your arguments are pathetic!
Even the Eurovision contest you mentioned in your arguments, forgetting that 2 years ago Turkey won the contest simply because Cyprus gave them 8 points. They won it by only 6 points margin, if you do not remember.

Yes, if you close your eyes to the realities, they start to seem pathetic to you. Majority of GC below 30 years are so fanatic against anything turkish. You tell them "hi" and some of them just ignore you. You can not find TC like this including me. Anyway, goon sleeping, have sweet dreams!!!

My mother is currently living in a TC abandoned house in Pafos. The TC owners have visited us a few times. Each time they came we invited them for lunch and they happily joined us. We are even friend now and we speak on the phone occasionally. The owner is a TC who currently lives in your city. He has a very big shipping company in Istanbul.

Claims? What claims? It is their house! Any time they wish to come and take it, they are free to do so. We never said that it is our house. We never said we want to sell it to anybody else, unlike what happened to all of our properties in Kyrenia area, which have been sold and re-sold and they built hotels and villas inside them.

Kifeas. What you did is True and what they did is wrong.
But will you ask every greek in Cyprus whether one has claim or not where he live, where he goes (for exp univercity)? Did you ever get curious about the hospital you go.(If there is a claim or not)

I mean if there is claim of a greek, They should compansate him(if he accept), or destroy the univercity. But this is not the way for friendship. There is not reason continuesly provoke to people.
