It was the UK, USA, CIA, OIC, T, TC, FBI, The men form Mars and the Federation of Universe Against Greeks and GCs who started the war to divide Cyprus, Greeks/GCs are completely innocent and their wish for enosis had nothing to do with the Cyprus Problem AT ALL.

Get your facts straight, OK.

Maybe I'm naive now, but Enosis was never the official, nor un-official policy, of ANY Cypriot government, let alone "successive" governments.

I am disappointed!
I just gave you the reference.

The UK House of Commons Select Committee on Foreign Affairs reviewed the Cyprus question in 1987 [123] and reported unanimously that,
...
“Moreover in June 1967 the Greek Cypriot legislature unanimously passed a resolution in favour of ENOSIS, in blatant contravention of the 1960 Treaties and Constitution.” [124]

[123] H.C. no. 23 of 1986-87. 2nd July 1987.
[124] Art. 1 of the Treaty of Guarantee declares prohibited any action likely to promote directly or indirectly union with any other state or partition of the island, and Art. 185(2) of the Constitution is to similar effect.

Hi DT,

I gather you are a Professor. I hope you have read the book Democracy at Gunpoint by Andreas Papandreu. He says:

"…Incidents followed, until we were at the brink of war. Makarios visited Athens in early April (1964). He and my father, who was handling personally all the aspects of the Cyprus problem, reached complete agreement…This was my father’s proposal, and Makarios accepted it. A clandestine operation then began on a huge scale of nightly shipments of arms and troops, of ‘volunteers’ who arrived in Cyprus in civilian clothes and then joined their ‘Cypriot’ units. The process was not completed until the middle of the summer. No less than 20,000 officers and men, fully equipped, were shipped to Cyprus."

You seem to be jumping around from one issue to the next...

Typical TC behavior in here who think they are "armed" to have a political debate...

I would avoid reading books by unauthorized individuals if I were you and start concentrating on UN and British reports if you really want the facts regarding (1) how many Greek troops arrived, (2) when and why did they arrive, (3) what happened then, etc.

I am not jumping around!

You asked "How about you tell us how many Turkish troops does it take to wipe out 200,000 people from their homes?" and I have quoted Andreas Papandreu saying that "20,000 officers and men, fully equiped, were shipped to Cyprus" 10 years before.

Is Andreas Papandreu also on the payroll of Turks?

The 20,000 figure is enough to tell me that this fellow hasn't done his homework.
When it comes to facts and figures, any author who does NOT cite his credible sources, is not worth reading.

The Greek contingent you mention which numbered between 10-12,000 arrived on Cyprus early in 1964 due to the Kofinou incidents when TCs (TMT) decided to hijack the Nicosia-Limassol highway, and even managed to kill a couple of UN personnel during one of those incidents. The end result was around 25 TCs dead and 17 Greeks dead. The UN was pissed off especially at losing personnel so the Greek contingent was soon replaced by a UN force of 6,500 troops (UNPKFC) in May 1964, as a result of UN resolution 186 (March 1964), being adopted…

Hi Get Real!

I only made a quotation from Andreas Papandreu's Democracy at Gunpoint. If he is not accurate enough, that is not my fault.

However, if your knowledge about the events of 1963-64 is so accurate, I am compelled to assume that you have also no objections to the quotations I have made above from Daily Express, Guardian, Daily Herald, Observer, Washington Post.

If this is the case, I have no quarrel with you.

What you FAILED to say was that was written "evidence" by the widely discredited Turkish propagandist Michael Stephens whom we have already given you links to so that you can find out for yourself, how he is not a "Truth" seeking person, as you appear to be

RUNNING AWAY?!?!?!?

My Dear Greek Brothers and Sisters,
Yes, of course I am a Turk.
I am a Turk who feels deeply about 200,000 GCs displaced from their homes.
I am a Turk who feels disgust at those thugs who desecrated and looted 1500 year old churches in North Cyprus.
I am a Turk who recently signed the apology to Armenians at great personal risk.

I plead with you to stop behaving like immature children and face your history.

Goodbye, and hope to see you again on a more joyful occasion.

Yours, The Truth
