Despite that he's on pills, I'm happy to say I do not know his sexual preferences !!!

Russia can wait

Russia/Turkey trade: $20 billion/year (Turkey is Russia's biggest trading party after Germany).
No. of Russian tourists visiiting Turkey: 2 million/year.

There is a case for arguing that if both Russia and Turkey remain outside the EU, their trading relations will get even closer.

... not sure why 2011 is mentioned.

I posted the above on the 31st December '08 and today we are reading this:

Russian Navy allowed to exercise in Greek waters
Athens Greece has given permission for Russian warships and aircraft to carry out manoeuvres this month in the southeast Aegean, Greek military sources said.

The Greek Government had agreed to a request from the commander of the Russian aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, which is on a mission in the Mediterranean with other ships of the Russian Northern Fleet, they said. The exercises will take place southeast of Rhodes today, tomorrow, Thursday and Saturday and south of Crete on Sunday, January 11.

The Greek sources said that the manoeuvres demonstrated “the common will of the two countries to cooperate in the military field”.

Greece and Russia have strengthened their ties in recent years, in particular working closely together in the transport of Russian oil and gas to Western Europe. (AFP)

The above post is TOTAL BULLSHIT

Russia has informed the Greek government that it intends to bind some areas in INTERNATIONAL waters and air space..

This information is a matter of routine when nations use international air and sea space for military exercises. Turkey and Greece routinely infor each other of military exercises in the EXACT Same way.

As for the pipeline, the report leaves out another EU country which will be part of the pipeline project, in fact the biggest recipient of the product, ie the Russian gas. That country is Italy and no one is accusing them of being overly pro Russian.

Like I said, total bullshit. I wonder if the reporter for the Times who carried the report was M/S Hope. Sounds like one of hers.

Russian carrier allowed to conduct exercises in Greece

Greece has agreed for the first time to allow a Russian aircraft carrier to conduct military exercises in the southeast Aegean and within Greek air space this month, the Defense Ministry said yesterday. The carrier Kuznetsov will operate southeast of the Dodecanese island of Rhodes today, tomorrow and on January 8 and 10. It will also conduct exercises south of Crete on January 11. The ministry said that Russian Sukhoi 25 and Sukhoi 33 fighter aircraft and Kamov helicopters would take part in the operations. The Kuznetsov is currently on a mission in the Mediterranean with other ships in Russia’s northern fleet.

I suspect that the Russians want to test the S300 system on Crete because they are refining the successor S400, and have had a few orders placed for it recently.

NB: This is just my speculation from all that I read.

They do not need to "test" new weapons at the door of Turkey :P ...... as much as they want to show Turkey where she can stick her rusty Warships when the next lot of Cypriot Oil Exploration vessels conduct their searches in CYPRIOT waters ... in a few weeks time!

Really  ... does everyone think President Christofias has had his feet up over Christmas?

Thanks President X ... keep up the good work with the Russians.

All on course for an Annus horribilis for not only the "trnc", but their clucking motherland :D
